What is the "normal" amount of bridal showers to have? How many people did you have there? Also, how soon/far away before the wedding should they be? Thanks!

typically a bridal shower is held within 2 months of the wedding. most brides have one or two although some have more.

i had one shower with ladies from both sides of our family & some girlfriends, i had 31 guests at my shower.

We had 3, though I tried to get it down to 2 (wanted 2 groups to work together). One was DH's family and our college town people (approx 15 people), one was my hometown shower, which was HUGE (approx 80 people), and my home church did one as well (around 20 people). All very different and very nice. The first was almost exactly 2 months before the wedding. The next was 4 weeks later (4 weeks before) and the next was 2 weeks after that (2 weeks before). I would try to get them before the 2 week mark. I was way too stressed and over-weddinged at that point to enjoy the last one as much as I should have.

I am having 3 b/c my family and my DF's family live in two diff states, so one for my hometown ppl, one for his, and one from my bridesmaids/college friends (i am still in school) i will have mine between 3 and one month b4 the wedding

I am having 2 - one for family (both sides) and my school is also holding one for me before we leave... Many of them aren't able to come to the wedding, as it is right before the holiday break, and there aren't that many substitutes in the County!! :rotfl:

i only had one. and it was mostly of people that i barely know. it would've been nice if my friends got to go, or even threw me one for that matter.

I never considered myself normal, but we had 4. #1 - My work, #2 - The town where we live, with mostly local friends, but also my parents and Aunt and Uncle from out of town, #3 - My hometown, #4 - DH's hometown

I had 2 showers and a lingerie shower/bachelorette party.

My 3 best friends threw me a "traditional" shower and there were about 20 people there including family. That was almost two months before the wedding.

Work threw me a surprise shower a couple of weeks before the wedding, which was a real surprise since I'd only been working there a few months.

My former roommate threw me a lingerie shower/bachelorette party about a month before the wedding with 10 friends at Disney - that was a total BLAST!!

I still haven't showered toda...OH...bridal showers...yeah...none yet...I thought you meant...nevermind ;) :rotfl:

I'm having a "bridal shower" for parents and other distinguished types to attend, and a bachelorette party...although my family calls it a "hen party" which is what they are called in Ireland...not sure why really...those girls know how to do it...you see them roving in huge packs, wearing t-shirts and some with er..."rainhat" hat's with veils or little deely-bobbers with funny little bits bobbing on the ends... :rotfl: It's a little crass, but they always have a fabulous time!

we're probably going to do a winery hopping thing :)
