How many rooms can I book under AAA? How about AP?

I may be brain dead tonight - but can't seem to find the answers.

If booking rooms using AP discount, how many rooms will I be able to book under one AP?

If booking rooms using AAA discount, how many rooms will I be able to book under one AAA membership?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm not positive about AAA but I know I have booked two rooms using my AAA.

As far as AP goes, you can book your room and two others with your AP.

We have four rooms booked under our AAA for a Magical Gathering.

I thought the AP had changed - we used to be able to book three rooms. Now my understanding is that you must have one AP holder in each room.

Could be but we booked three rooms last spring using the AP. I would be surprised if you couldn't book at least three rooms since many families will put adults in one room and kids in the other. But, I am not positive on that one. Perhaps someone has done this recently?

We tried booking 3 rooms with AP for our Nov/Dec trip and were told that there must be an ap holder in each room. I believe this policy changed sometime in September.

We just switched our rooms to an AP rate when they came out for october. We were told it is now one AP per room. We had three rooms so after using mine and DH's pass our third room had to remain a AAA discount.

OP here.

I am in the prelim. stage of planning for a grand gathering involving 4 families, 12 people and 4 rooms. We are looking at WL for 6 nights. We live too far away to have multiple WDW trips within a 12 months period.

So, historically speaking, I shouldn't expect good discount from AP side of things that will make it worthwhile for 4 adults to get APs and thus get the room discount (taking cost of AP into consideration of course). I should stick with other public or AAA or Disney Visa codes, right?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

A seven day park hopper ticket for an adult would be $268 (buying it here on the Dis with the discount). An annual pass would be $477. This means that you would have to realize a discount of over $200 per AP per room for the AP to be a good deal.

If you are staying for 6 nights then the room itself would have to be discounted about $40 per night for you to come out ahead. Yes, that can happen with an AP rate but that said one never knows when the AP rate will come out or IF they will offer an AP rate.

I would plan on the AAA rate that you can get and then check back on the AP rate. If an AP rate comes out that will save you more than $200 per room during your stay, and it is available then you can transfer your AAA reservation over to an AP rate. You do not have to have your AP in hand at the time you make the reservation. But, you should have it in hand when you check in ... so if they ask you for it ... you can show it to them.

Planning this way will give you the best of both worlds. If the AP rate comes out and it is available you will be pleasantly surprised and maybe even save some money. If it doesn't you won't have to worry about it.

Thanks CJSMom :) I think that's a great plan of attack and will use that!

DW is saying that if we get AP though, it will give us a solid reason to go down to WDW more often when there is airline or room discounts .... Not sure if my bank account can afford that! :)

I don't know about Iowa, but I got AP's at AAA at a discount. I saved almost $100 on 3 of them, then saved an additional $250 off my package through AAA. I still had to purchase a 1 day base ticket for each person in my party because we are usning the Basic DDP next December, but that knocked an additional $623 off my reservation which paid for half of my AP's which will allow me several more trips without the added expense of tickets for each trip.

You are right.

For the AAA discount, does there have to be one adult in each room with a AAA card, or could I have AAA and get the discount for 3 rooms?
Thanks!:confused3

Previously I have booked 2 rooms with AAA and AP, but have been told when booking next 2 trips ( Dec and March) that only one room can be booked with each card.

I just booked two rooms and was asked for my AAA number after the first room. I was told after booking each room that I would need to present my card at check in. There was nothing said about anyone in the second room needing a card also.

I was going to book 2 rooms at Pop recently, and they let me use my AAA card for both rooms, adn they put the second room in my mom's name, but under my AAA number and she doens't have a card, but I changed my mind and we are now staying in 1 room at CR instead.

What office did you use? Could you PM the #- I've never heard of a discounted AP- and that might be what seals the deal for mine!
:thumbsup2
