An anyone help with a RCI points chart for staying at Saratoga springs, I am new to being a RCI holder and can not get onto then points charts yet?

I'm going to move this to the DVC - Mousecellaneous board; you'll find discussion on RCI trades into DVC there.

I think you will need to contact RCI directly for that info. It's going to depend on too many factors for anyone here to know the answer.

Another source for that kind of info is the TUG Exchange board: http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12 , although I doubt you will get a direct answer.

A direct RCI contact is your best bet.

OK, I was hoping someone may have access already to the RCI site and could look up the rates for me, I was shown the site and Saratoga Springs when I joined but did not take note of points ect.

Thanks for your help.

For RCI points depending on the week it's 69500 to 115500 for a 2 BR (same for OKW). The other 2042 resorts plus AKV are slightly higher with a range of 71000-118500 and BLT is 79K-132K. I have not yet seen VGF since RCI doesn't have it officially listed but apparently the designation is already set with RCI at DV12, I presume it'll be the same as BLT. For TPU on the RCI weeks side it's variable but generally low 30's to high 40's is a good range to think of.

Here are the RCI resort codes for DVC:

DV01 - AKV
DV02 - BCV
DV03 - BWV
DV04 - HHI
DV05 - OKW
DV06 - SSR
DV07 - VB
DV08 - VWL
DV09 - BLT
DV10 - VGC
DV11 - Aulani

Presumably, VGF is DV 12 and Poly will be DV13.

As Dean said, the TPU's vary widely. I saw an OKW studio for 37 () recently and have seen summer 2 BRs (SSR) estimated as high as 60 on the TUG Sightings board.

If your RCI membership is operational, you should be able to access the site yourself.

The reason I mention that is that setting up the RCI account can sometimes take months (mine took 4 months!). Until it's set up you can't use it at all. If you can't search, you can't do exchanges or ongoing searches yet.

If your account is not fully functional, you need to follow up, and you may need to get downright obnoxious to get full use of the account. You'd think this is something that would go smoothly, but you'd be wrong.

No mine is not up and running they are telling me 4-6 weeks.

Sorry to seem obvious but what do you mean by TPUs?

you would benefit from spending time over at TUG.

TPUs = trade power units. when you deposit a week in an RCI timeshare into RCI, they give you these units to spend on trades. your week might be worth up to 60 TPUs...and it might take almost all of that to get a DVC 2BR. you can also combine multiple weeks of deposits with RCI (for a fee) to get enough TPUs.

if you own an RCI points resort, the points you get number in the thousands as dean said...and you would likely have access to different DVC deposits...so it's important to know what you are trying to use in the first place.

  1. Stay on them. None of the stuff being discussed here matters until your RCI account is operational.
  2. Use the waiting period to educate yourself, as you are trying to do here.

TUG is a much better place to try to learn about timeshares generally and also exchanges. Go to www.tug2.com . Look at their Exchange board info, and also the board for whatever underlying timeshare system you bought.

Some of TUG's forums require a paid membership, but it's $15 per year -- not going to break you.

Several points. First, do you have your membership number for RCI points. It should be something like 1-XXXXXXX. If so, keep trying to register on the website, you'll likely be able to get in far earlier than waiting for them to notify you. The other is that you can access the directory and the points grids without being a member from their outside home page.

Jim, I have further confirmation that VGF will be DV12. I put in an ongoing search and elected to list dv12 as part of the search. There were issues with the search not related to that and while talking to RCI they used the resort name for VGF in conjunction with DV12 that I had listed. DVC often waits a couple of years before listing a new resort with the exchange company, I'd expect it to show up formally by around the end of the year to spring.

I do have a number that was written down on my forms, I assume that's the number they will use for my membership, so I'll give it a go, thanks

OK it appears I was miss sold my HGV club as they told me when I joined I could exchange my Hilton points to RCI and book Disney hotels.

Yes RCI have Disney hotels listed but there is no space at any for 2 years.

Spoke to RCI who said that's correct and I have to go onto a waiting list.

Not happy.

That's correct, if you WL a year out and have reasonable expectations, you have a decent chance of success. This is a common sales technique but a little out of character for HGVC I think.

That's fine but wanted to book October 2015 for Halloween but was told it is 50/50 as to if we get a room.

Is it the same with Disney Club?

As long as you put in an ongoing request and follow the website for RCI as well AND you're OK with any DVC resort (esp OKW & SSR), a 1 BR & 7 nights starting on a Fri, Sat or Sun; I'd say your chances are far greater than 50% if you put in the request now and likely still above 50% for a 2 BR. The reason you need to follow the website as well is that generally RCI won't match a points side deposit to an ongoing search until it filters over to the weeks side. I'm not sure any variations that might apply for HGVC though. I'm curious, when you posted initially were you still within your ?10 day cancelation window? If so and had you provided more info, we might have been able to help you further. If you're looking at Disney and non Disney trips and HGVC resorts (not counting affiliates) works for you then you're still likely in a very good situation. IMO owning a good non DVC timeshare to use for Disney and non Disney as a single ownership is far less of a compromise than trying to buy DVC and use it for non DVC options as well for those looking to do a substantial amount of both. Once you get to a week a year for non DVC, often owning both is the best option.

You were not mis-sold. You CAN use your Hilton points to exchange into DVC using RCI. That is a true statement, not a mis-statement.

Your problem is you don't have the vaguest idea how RCI works. Once you do your homework and learn the system, I think you'll be pleased. But you have to know what you are doing. If you don't invest the time and effort to educate yourself, you are doomed to remain "not happy."

Go to TUG, learn how RCI works (especially the differences between RCI Weeks and Points, and how to do an ongoing search in RCI Weeks), set up an ongoing search as Dean has suggested twice above, and you'll be fine.
