How many price quotes do you get before you book?

I called All Seas Travel today and got a pretty good quote on a 7 day cruise in April 2005. Or at least I think it is a good quote. I know all the ins and outs of saving money on a Disney land vacation but at sea is a different story. Should I call around to a bunch of TA's? How about booking directly through DCL? I don't want to wait too long because from reading through some of these threads it seems a couple of days could mean a couple hundred dollars!

Who do you book through and how do you know it is a fair price?

Thanks! :sunny:

We check DCL, AAA, and then COSTCO. Unbelievable but AAA was the lowest (or the same as DCL) and we got some perks from AAA. First time COSTCO was not better (Still trying to figure this one out - maybe it was just the time we happened to make ressies). I have not used Dreams Unlimited or Allseasons but several posters here recommend them as well. Check as many as you can but remember that each one will be different (some include transfres\insurance\etc and others do not) - Mike

We always book directly with DCL, in fact I have never even received a quote from a TA or internet cruise site. I know that I could probably save $100 or two but we just prefer going through DCL on our own.

married2grumpy - We're in the process of getting ready to book our trip also. I just figured DCL would be cheaper, but then checked out All Seas travel and Dreams Unlimited. I found DU to be cheaper than both DCL and AS, so check them out also.

Good Luck!!

I will call DU also. I just checked DCL online and it was way more than what was quoted by All Seas. I am a Costco member and never thought of using them for planning a vacation. I'm just nervous because this is a first for us and I want to get the best price possible and good service also.

I'm with you and I think if you shop around a little, you'll have some piece of mind. Plus I've heard nothing but good things about DU, so I feel pretty confident that we're getting a great deal.

I find that most all are very close to the same quote.
We use a local TA and she gets us the same as DU AS without the extras like room credit from DU
But she does an exelent job and will call and change add fix things as soon as we ask:D

If you know your cruise date for sure, you can just book with DCL directly, and then when you find a TA you can transfer your ressie to them for additional savings.

I think we checked the price at about 4 or 5 different places including DCL, Dreams Unlimited, travelocity and Cruise.com. Out of those Cruise.com had the best price and we were going to book with them but on a thread I had here dzneprincess recommended contacting Dana at www.cruiseplanners.com and we ended up booking with her. Their price was only about 20.00 less than cruise.com but it was still less and I had the reassurance of a real person I could talk to if I had any questions. She has been absolutely wonderful and has saved us around 600.00 so far. Plus she sent me the coolest postcard today. :teeth:
