Hi,

I am a non-DVC member looking to buy points from a
DVC member to stay at either the Fort Wilderness Cabins or a moderate resort, like Port Orleans Riverside. I need to know approx. how many points to buy. This info. is not
published, not available on the DVC points calculator and
DVC Member Services is unwilling to divulge it to a non-member.

We are looking to stay from 9/4/08 - 9/11/08 (7 nights).

Any info. at all about where to get this info. would be greatly appreciated.

Tom

Not worth while. It will cost you more to rent points than to book through CRO.

Renting a reservation from a DVC member only makes financial sense if you're planning to stay at a DVC resort.

Members have the ability to use their points at FW and POR, but the point costs are very high. The member will also be charged a $95 fee for booking outside the DVC system, which they will be passing on to you.

Here's what the points look like....

For a FW cabin, it's 29 points a night for weeknights, 52 points a night for Friday or Saturday night.

For POR, it's 16 points a night for weeknights, 30 points a night for Fri-Sat.

With a going rate for point rentals of $10-12 a point, you could almost certainly stay cheaper at FW or POR if you paid cash through CRO, and that's without any discounts.

To compare, you could stay in a VWL 1-BDR villa for 22 weeknight/45 weekend.

Thanks for the quick reply. You saved me a lot of time
and trouble. I will definitely follow your advice.
