How many points do you have?

We have 170 at SSR :cloud9: We will be staying at the GCV in 31 days and I am planning on touring. I told DH not to even think about surprising me with a 50 point add on. :rotfl:

Anybody considering buying points in Hawaii when they become available?

We have 250 pts at SSR and usually go to Hawaii about once every 5 years. Oahu is not our most fav. island but we do like to island hop and spend a few nights there. I think the point structure at Aulani will be very high and they will sell at a premium price point so we will not buy points there if we can get in for 4 or 5 nights at the 7 mo. window. If we cannot, then oh well. There's always Maui even though it would be a cash trip at least it would be worth it. :goodvibes

We have 550 points (300 at BCV and 250 at AKV). We have a 10 day trip planned in November (5 nights in a grand villa at jambo:banana:) and 4 nights in a two bedroom at BCV:cool1: Since we just got back from a 7 day trip in March we have already dipped into half our 2011 points:confused3

Somehow there is just never enough:confused3

1205 points at OKW,SSR. VB,HHI,AKV, VGC. A nice way to snowbird.

We purchased 460 to start at VGC, then stayed in a 2 bedroom for 2 weeks by borrowing points so we had to do a 200 point add-on. I guess that is what we get for staying in a 2 bedroom the first time - my bad!!!! :rolleyes1 I would love to add more but am waiting to finish the house mortgage (only a couple payments left).:cool1:

660 @ VGC

We have 200 at AKL and 120 at SSR. We always get two bedroom units and try to make at least one 5 day trip a year. We love DVC and could never go back!

We have 970 (OKW, WLV & BWV)

We usually do 2 weeks each summer in a 2 bdr. This year it is 16 nights at BLT - lake view

We only have the minimum of 160 at BLT. Use the heck out of my points, and only have 9 left for 2011:) If we buy again, wait, WHEN we buy again, I will probably add on the same amount (160) for a total of 320. We are a family of 5. However I want to go more than once a year, or every other year. But oldest is going off to college in 2011, so there may be some changes then!

We have 550 pts. 300 at VWL and 250 at BCV, and we still could use more. We like to travel with our kids and their significant others, and soon, hopefully, grandchildren will be on the way. Looks like we might eventually have to buy another contract.;)

DH and I have 210 at VGC. We started off with 160 then added 50 less then a week later. Right now, the points seem enough for our family of 2, but once we have kids, we'd like to add on. With 210 and another 210 points from 2009, we have an 8 night stay booked at a studio at BWV, a 3 night weekend trip to VGC in a 1br in the fall, and another 3 night in a studio at VGC in Dec. I think we also have something planned for early next year at VGC as well. So, if we want to continue to vacay like this every year, we'll need another 210 points. This "addonitis" I've read about is rather contagious, I see.

We currently have 280, but I hope that number will soon increase to 355 if our VWL resale passes ROFR.

We have 200 at SSR and are planning on adding on another 100 next year. We bought in 2006 and have used the heck out of our points. We've been able to do 2 cruises and lots of resort trips, definitely gotten our moneys worth already. We love DVC!!

225 points all at AKV (175 intial @ Jambo and two 25 point add-ons at Kidani)

We can do at least 2 trips per calendar year and stay in 1BR villas with studio stays mixed in. Currently in "borrow mode," soooo ready for another add-on!!!

I'm feeling like a very small fish here....

We have 100 BCV points. That's all. We just bought last Sept and are going for our first stay at the end of this month. I'm already scrounging for points, though. DH and I are talking about adding on with some "less expensive" SSR points in the next few months. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Another small fish:rotfl: we just bought 100 points at AKL last week.

We currently have 1400, but are constantly re-evaluating our needs.
Hawaii is not in the "must buy" column, but it is in the "must visit" column.

We used to have 650 points; 150 OKW; 170 OKW, 200 VB and 130 SSR. Unfortunately, we have had to sell VB and SSR due to both of us losing our jobs in 2009. So we are down to 320 pts. Nowhere near enough with a family size of seven yet still way too many points if you happen to let someone know you were having financial difficulties due to job loss. Then, according to some, we were just irresponsible flops for purchasing them in the first place even though the loss of our jobs were something we could not control. We are both back to working two jobs and are living without the use of credit cards and will one day buy back more points. Just as other families have said, Disney is the one and only extravagance that we have.

When we lost our jobs, two days apart from each other, we posted on the budget board for ideas on how to keep afloat as we had no idea how long we would be without work and a steady income. We got some really nasty comments about how many points we owned. (we also got very good help from most of the posters) It didn't matter that we purchased them when we could afford them. Or that two of the contracts were already paid off. Or that we had been living off of a savings account with seven months worth of cash in it & 401k's with money in it that we wouldn't touch anyway. We had done what we were supposed to do as responsible consumers except for having too much credit card debt which we have since fixed. So just a warning for the future in case anyone else runs into a similar situation and have more points than someone else deems are too many. They will dig up past posts you have made and try to make you feel like an irresponsible drain on society if you put your money into DVC. With that said, we will still purchase more points in the future when I have saved up enough cash to buy more. We have had to adjust our living and spending due to our new incomes and we have definately learned a few lessons along the way. But we are still DVC owners and proud to be!

I was skimming these posts and read yours. I am so sorry that posters ridiculed you for DVC when your situation was clearly out of your control! Shame on them!! I understand why the original poster asked the question, but one reason I stay out of these discussions, it's really none of anyone's business. We are self employed, been a rough year and a half for a lot of people. Washington is clearing out of control and I am on a spending freeze. Good luck with your future!

We still have two of our contracts and will buy more in the future! We have just learned a hard lesson about what CAN happen in life. Whether it is in our control or not. And it will, hopefully, help us to never get into a situation that hard to survive through again, financially speaking. Plan, plan, plan and save, save, save.

We hope to own a total of 650-800 points in the future. Not thrilled with what the maintenance costs per year will be on that many points but.....it is still worth it!

Being a large family and living in Florida but having to use mostly weekend points really burns them quickly. I like the answer I heard earlier about how many points do you have?....Not enough!
