how many points did you start out with? (UPDATED REVISED POLL)

We started with 270 at BCV-- we were a family of four at that time and we figured that was enough. Now that we're a family of five, we've decided to do an add-on. We just called this week to do a 200 point add-on at SSR.

We are a family of 5 and use a 2-bedroom villa. We started with 300-points at Beach Club Villas.

I love it so much, in about 2-years I will be doing an add-on to give me extra vacation time.

We are a family of three and my DD is just shy of 2 years old. With that being said, we can pick up and go to WDW whenever we want which makes us very flexible. Now, when our DD starts to go to school, we are going to have to re-think our approach and maybe hit some of those 'crowded' times when the kids are out of school. But, for now, we are chuggin' along with our little DVC contract.

We initially bought into DVC with a small 75-point resale contract (w/all points banked from previous year) and have already gone on 1 trip 'home' (3 months after closing) and another trip now in less than a month! Two trips in less than one year ain't too shabby! But, we can see ourselves addin' on in the next year or two for sure.

I voted 231 - 269 on the poll, we initially purchased 200 points and within 2 week decided we needed 50 more points to do what we wanted so I am considering that one purchase.

We were wrong on the 50 more, a year later we purchased 300 more.

Planned to start with 150...bumped that up to 160 (for World Passport exchanges). Ended up not purchasing on site. Called back to purchase with discount when we got home and bumped it up to 200. Sure glad that I did!

I can see us adding another 100 points someday. DH thinks 200...but I'd rather buy another timeshare with more trading power.

THe poll wouldn't let me revote, but we started with 230 and quickly (less than a year) added on 150 more before the price went up! I believe our buy in price for the first points was $62.50/point and the second batch was $65/point.

I thought this was interesting as well. It explains why it seems others have so many more points than we are able to afford.

We have what we started with, 250 points. That's enough for a 7-8 nights in a 1BR once a year. I do want to add on but can't afford it right now.

We started out with 350 points at BWV (the contract also had 225 banked points making it even better)! Added on a second contract at BWV but then decided we really wanted to have that 11-month window at VWL -- so we recently added on at VWL! Now we're looking at selling the second BWV contract -- too many points/maintenance fees (yep, you can have TOO many points!)

Started out in 1992 with 230 Points from OKW and just got approved for an additional 130 points from SSR.

We started with 232 points at OKW in 1992. We've added on 4 times and now have a total of 615 points (482 OKW & 133 BWV).

We think 615 is enough but you never know.

Like timC, I too did a big spreadsheet and lots of calculations to try and figure out how many points we should buy in at last October. I came up with 210. Oh, I also considered that our guide told us that was a level associated with the off season of the one week Interval International vacations. Plus, that was really all I could convince DH to buy at the time

I'm now planning our first trip home, and I can see that 210 is not gona be nearly enough with two boys, the desire to take "help" with us a.k.a. Gram, Aunt Anne, or whomever else is willing to go on a free vacation, along with my very real desire to take more than just one trip each year. And I think we're gona end up going over holidays (high point season) All that planning did not put us where we need to be! Or should I say, where I want to be

So, I'm hoping DH is gona have such a great time that he will be easy to convince that we need to skrimp and save and buy another 210 points! Ok, maybe that's shooting a little too high, but any add-on I can get would be good. Hopefully a post about whether to add-on at our home (BCV) or another DVC resort is in my future

We purchased 200 initially and our home is BWV. Then we added an additional 25 but BWV was no longer available, so now we have those at VB.

Initially started with 300 thinking that would be enough (yeah right) added on an additional 200. I think a few more would be ideal but not in the budget at this time, hopefully in the near future.

We were patient and did alot of research on these boards. We figured 200 would be enough, so we purchased 400. We are still coming up short! LOL!

We began with 250 points at VWL because that was the only place DH would consider buying due to the WL themeing. Later bought 100 more at BCV to make use of SAB when we stay there and ease of entry to Epcot. Could stand to have a few more points now that we are looking to book at places other than WDW.
