How many points are enough ???

The real question is how many points are too many and the answer to that is when the MF start to hurt :scared1:

Or when you don't make time to use them - which is our deal. Disney just isn't our priority in vacation time use.

For us, it seems to depend on when we did the last add-on:lmao: Originally had 175. That was OK for a few months, then we increased to 210. That was OK for a few months, then we increased to 260. That was OK for a few months then....Now we're up to 460 points. At first we thought "Wow! We've definitely got enough now". But now it's been more than a few months since our last add-on, and we're looking for another small add-on-if only we had about 50 more points, THEN we'd have enough..for a few months!

Too funny...another neighbor in this thread!! We have been here 6 years...in old Crofton (triangle). Counting down the days until we can move to FL...too busy, cold and expensive here.

Can't believe all the locals on this thread. We are over in the Crofton Meadows area behind the elementary school.

We have 1300+ and we thoroughly enjoy them! It is possible that we will do a VGF add on, but if we can use our SSR points to get into VGF in May, at 7 months, then I think we will just keep what we have.

Bobbi:goodvibes

I am local too - Riva/Davidsonville. (Transferred from FL and hated it there to the person who mentioned they can't wait to move there!). And we don't have near enough points!

Easy...

Number of points required for one week...multiply by 52

:)

^^^ Sounds about right to me. But what about extra points for relatives to share with you? Maybe, you can never really have enough?! :rolleyes1

We have 580 and are still borrowing points all the time. I really want to purchase more when Poly comes out too. (But it will be hard when we could twice as many points through resale with other resorts! We'll probably buy more resale first, then buy Poly resale when we can't book at the 7 month window. We usually go off season anyway.)

Probably gonna do the same thing at VGF if we cant get in at the 7 month mark... Ive been able to book at BLT at 7 months so hopefully we can do the same...

We have 275 and have transferred in extras nearly every year.

Since we work for the government and usually have about a month of vacation each year, and like to spend about half of that at Disney, my eventual goal is to have 2 weeks worth in a 2 bedroom during shoulder season which DVC calls "Choice" ... probably not going to happen for awhile (because of our government salaries, ironically :lmao:), but its a nice dream. At my home resort that would be about 750 points. Atm, we have been squeezing about 5 nights in a 2 bedroom plus a few extra weekends in studios out of those 275 we currently own.

Another Marylander here! I am in Severna Park.

We have 85 points and while it is plenty for now, I am sure we will add on at some point!

We have 470 and still don't think it's near enough for the frequency, villa size and length of stays we want. MFs and the really slim resale market are keeping me from actually adding more points right now.

Off to buy a lottery ticket! :rotfl:

Gd luck, win that and MF amounts wont matter....lol

Yeah I think I'm just about to that point. Just added on an 30 pts. at VWL which brings us to a grand total of 635 spread out over 4 resorts. But the sad part is the last year or so we're in pretty heavy borrow mode & I have been renting some of my BWV points. I guess if I didn't do that we'd be fine. The long VWL stays over Christmas are really a point killer but until the kids are out of school that's the way it goes. I'm done now but my close friends like to rib me that they've heard that before.

400 total (240 BWV, 60 BCV, 100 SSR) - MFs are under $185 a month (pittance;)). joined DVC in 01/1999.
we needed more points when our kids were younger, and stayed in 1bdms for a week every year, with a 2 bdrm (parents, DB & family) every other year.

now, we do 2 trips in studios annually (11-13 days, 2 ppl), and DB & family every other year in 1 bdrm.
400 is near perfect.....if there is one thing we would change, we would sell off the BCV points to buy more BWV - BW view has gotten much more difficult to get in 14+ years, yet remains an essential part of our vacations :cloud9:

That's all the maintenance fees I can afford right now, but seriously, you picked the wrong place to ask your question if you wanted a reasonable response. DVC koolaid junkies unite!

We have 450 points at BCV. We like 1 BR and travel twice a year but during the higher seasons. I think it is enough for now.
