How many point? and Why?

We started with 250 at BWV and 200 and BCV. We recently added an additional 250 at OKW.

We are selling our BWV now (variety of reasons) and may consider adding on when AKV comes up. If CRV ever happens we will be all over that like white on rice.

We started with 150 at OKW. Sold due to family emergency. Recently purchased 240 at SSR. Found that wasn't quite enough so added 50 at VB. May eventually add on 50 to 100 more, but for at least the next few years, we're good with what we have. Right now, paying to have any needed points transferred into our account looks like a better value equation than adding on.

We started with 150 BW points via resale. We knew we would eventually want/need more as we wanted to be able to bring along my parents on our trips. So the next year we purchased another 150 BW points via resale. We thought we were set and planned one Sun-Fri 2BR stay and one Sun-Fri 1BR stay per year. And we'd have 150 for each DD to receive eventually. Then we decided we might still want to have some for ourselves so we purchased 150 SSR points (it had the last year's points and 2 APs included). So now we're sitting at 450. We were glad the CRV didn't come through this time -- saving my pennies for that one! So now we're at 450 and starting to rent out to friends/family if we have excess points.

We purchased 100 points at VWL via resale. I plan to add on in 25 - 50 point increments from Disney as finances allow.

I would love about 350 points, but I think we will settle in around 150-175.

I teach school and am tied to the school calendar. We have 175 points at that gets us 5 nights beginning of June at WDW, 5 nights end of June VB, 5 nights end of July WDW.

We're a family of four that will stay a family of four and the one time we stayed in a 2BDR we felt like it was a waste, since we don't "hang out" in the room & a 1 bedroom does not offer more sleeping accomodation - so, realistically, I am not going to be fitting much more vacation point usage in between June 1st and August 1st.

BUT - I would love 75 points more because it is my fantasy to be able to offer accomodations to others as a gift. It's my dream to be able to choose one young family that could not afford it otherwise each year at church or school and tell them they could have 4-5 nights accomodations at Disney on us. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I just met someone last week at VWL that has 800 points. She said that between her, her sister and brother they have 1,400 points. I can only dream of that. We just bought 250 points. Ideally, I would like to have 350, but the next 100 will have to wait a bit. We just bought a house that needs to be completely remodeled from top to bottom, so I now where all of my money is going to go for the next few years....anyone know a good general contractor in Milwaukee. =)

My dad (semi-retired) and I (self-employed auntie) got 200 points at Saratoga in May and just added another 120 to take advantage of the discounted special.

Our original thinking was to just extend our offsite trips with a few weekdays on property in studios. But we need handicapped rooms and availability can be iffy on studios if you're a late planner. Plus we're so used to the extra space of 2 bedroom Marriott villas.

Our thinking now is a May stay of a 1 bedroom for 5 days (added onto a Marriott week stay), and an October stay in a 2 bedroom (to bring one of my siblings' families down with us every year - letting them revolve every three years) and have 50 points left over for a short trip in December or Spring in a studio.

We got the DVC as a sort of present to the entire family. Named my dad and the four kids as members for the discounts, and will give everyone a chance to take a Disney vacation with us.

We were just going down one week in March, but discovering warmer months, Halloween, Flower and Garden festival, AP's and that we could do trips elsewhere with our Marriott weeks has allowed us to enjoy a bi of Disneymania.

Someday, we'll blow all our Use Year points on rooms for the entire family one Halloween. If we can convince them to take the kids out of school at the same time. There's 16 soon to be 17 of us.

We have 160 points at SSR. Our reasoning is that we will probably only go to Disney every second year at the most. This then gives us 320 points every two years to use.

Also with 160 points this will enable us to trade out to another location for a week peak season if we so wish.

We love Disney but we do travel a lot and want try other things. Also long term if for some reason we can travel long distance, we can use our points at other locations in the South Pacific.

Our first purchase was at BWV and we bought 200 pts. Not long after that we added 25 pts. The BCV was opening and we bought 225 there to match what we had at BWV. Then more BWV points became available so we bought 125 there. Our total was then 575. A little after SSR opened we purchased 125 there to make an even 700. My goal is 1000 pts but I am elated with the pts we have and love my semi annual trips to the "World".

We originally purchased 230 points at OKW nearly 10 years ago. After making plans for the following year, we quickly discovered it wasn't enough for us, and we added on 150 more. We decided to add on at the same resort for several reasons. One was that OKW and BWV were the only choices, and we didn't particularily care for BWV. The other reason is that we wanted access to all 380 points at the 11 month booking window at our preferred resort. We have never needed or considered another add-on until just recently. We are contemplating a small add-on at AKV to give us a stay there once every third year. I'll likely wait until I see the point schedules for that resort, and add on exactly 1/3 of the points needed for a stay in our preferred season there.

We started with 150 in 1996 at OKW. Then we added on 56 BCV points in 2000 before it sold out, to make sure we had an 11 month window there if things ever got too booked up.

This works well for us. We get annual or seasonal passes, and we got two to three times a year, avoiding high point weekends. We range from studios to short stays to two bedrooms for longer stays. At OKW, it's easy and fairly inexpensive to have a two bedroom for five days.

That brings up a question I have, If I own points at one resort.. can I do an add on of lets say 25 to 50 points at another ??

We originally bought 160 points at SSR figuring that we could go every year with for a week trading off between a studio and a 1 BDR each year. Then my mom decided that she'd like to come with us every 3rd year or so, so she paid for a 25 point add-on to cover the difference between a 1 BDR and a 2 BDR. So we're at 185 right now and saving rapidly for a 115 point add-on at AKV next year. This way we can bring more family and guarantee a 1 BDR yearly now that DH and I are getting closer to having our own little ones. We think we'll be satisfied at 300 points, but who knows.

We initially bought 170 points at BW and felt very happy with the cost versus benefit of that transaction. We've since added to a total of 385 points after realizing our willingness to go to Fla and our pleasure with the accomodations. Everyone has different circumstances facing them but I can confirm our pleasure with that result. Good luck with your study.

We started with 300 at SSR. After bringing some family with us we did an add on. Now we are at 420. With this amount we can bring different family members with us every other trip. We have two growing boys. They had a hard time sharing a bed this trip. I think by next year we will have to get a two bedroom just for the four of us. We are buying points at AKV, not because we need them, I just want points there. :goodvibes
