How many people like the Pop Century?

We stayed at POP in June, and loved it. We had a pool view, and it was nice. Like the food court! We would stay there again!

We too are returning in September on DH's Extravagant Birthday Trip II. It'll be the 3rd time we've chosen Pop! We've been lucky and gotten our request for king bed too, once with standard bath, once with handicapped. Each time we were in the 80's.

Mickeyholic, I share the same thoughts as you as my family learned on our first trip to Disney last year that we were not the type of bunch to hang around the resort. We stayed at CR last year and used it primarily as a place to go to sleep. I had the same angst as you as we begun planning our August trip this year. My thoughts after reading several threads including the Pop Century thread here is that given our touring objectives we would end up just using the resort to sleep in for probably 95% of our stay and Pop Century seemed to be the value of choice. Additionally our lunch and dinner plans are spread out over the World. The only meal we would be eating at Pop is breakfast (except for character breakfasts) which to us is not a major consideration. We plan on renting a car so reliance on Disney Transportation is not an issue for us. All of these factors led me to conclude to give Pop a try. The key is not to compare or have expectations of a duluxe or mod in mind which is how I am gearing up for my stay. With high expectations in mind you are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you are still apprehensive, and you are planning on staying for a week or longer, and your budget allows, you may want to consider a split stay.

I have spent a total of 20 nights there since last Nov. and had no problems whatsoever. I always ask for a room in a quite area, and have never been disapointed. I liked it better than POR (riverside) or WL (which was very noisey) and I like it better than any of the All Stars.
getting a good nights sleep in a quite room is my top priority at any resort. I don't have small children, and their noise (clip clopping shoes, screaming etc..) gets on my nerves, so I try and make sure I get a room upstairs in a quite area. I even carry earplugs on my trip, and never had to use them at POP. (was there this past May also)
The food court was just as good as any other WDW I have stayed in.
I will definitly stay there again UNLESS the cheer thing is going on.
I love the fact that it is almost right next door to the Disney Studios.
I am going back in a few weeks and will definitly stay at POP again.

I love POP! It's my favorite value resort. However, it is a value and I wouldn't be able to stay there for more than 3-4 days. I miss the amenities of a moderate/deluxe reort on a longer trip.

as far as comparing it to a motel 6 -well I don't think these people have stayed in a motel 6.

Disney does the landscaping, their is a lake, there is cute sayings along the resort, their ICons, it is a Disney resort.

motel 6 is a hotel room - no landscaping to speak of, certainly not a lake, and definitely nothing Disney about a motel 6.

that say Joe Mouse is right - if you go expecting the same type of stuff at a moderate or deluxe you won't enjoy all that pop has to offer.

sometimes the food court will be crowded - hey it is a value

also sometimes the bus stop will be crowded - again it is a value.

got great service, the CM's are some of the best and I really love this resort.

we stayed last time at CBR and believe me both missed the Pop the whole time.

CBR was doing construction on their bus stops - so it was all a one way street. CBR is a very spread out resort - so believe me it was a BIG problem!!!!

We stayed there in Oct. 2004 and we loved it and we didnt have any problems with noise.
