How many people like the Pop Century?

Loved it! My DD won't even let me consider another hotel. ha ha. Never heard our neighbors once in 7 days. Did hear some toilets flush. Not a biggie to me. We were in the 50s, 3rd floor, 1st building. Location was great.

We absolutely loved Pop Century! This was our 1 and only trip (so far ;) ) so we've not actually experienced any other Disney hotel to compare it too. The room was very comfortable and met our needs. There was plenty of space to store everything. The beds were comfy. We stayed in the 90's building and had no trouble with noise, even though the computer pool was right there and we were right at the elevator. I was very pleased with that! The bus service was awesome. At busy times when leaving the parks (especially Magic Kingdom) there would be usually 3 busses loading at the same time for Pop. So even the dreaded mile long long was very quick! The food court was not too bad either. We would definately not hesitate to stay there again! :flower:

Unfortunately...we didn't care for it at all. It was like a cheesy motel 6. It was very very crowded...alot of disrepectful kids and their parents too (grrr). We paid I think it was $89.00 a night when we were there and it was waaaaaaay too much in all of our opinions. The rooms were very very small, the food court was a total madhouse (even my boys agreed). The only positives to us were we liked the Disney store part and it was clean but other than that...we would never have the desire to stay there again.

Take us to the moderates or even offsite....for that price.

just my 2cents...

I was there last August, and loved it! I had no problems with the resort at all.

Have a magical vacation!

We just arrived home from a POP Stay. 7/10-7/19. This was our first stay in a Value Resort. We stayed at 60's in a 1st floor room at the end near the lake.

1) Upon initial arrival we were afraid we had made a mistake. It was very crowded, and loud. By the 2nd day we noticed that despite this, operations were very smooth, and organized. Despite the huge volume of quests we never felt "left out." By the 3rd day the property had grown on us, and we were very comfortable.

2) No problems at the food court. Very busy, yet very well run IMO.

3) The property was very well maintained. Very clean. Mousekeeping was very friendly, and thorough.

4) We rent a car, so I have no comment on Bus Service.

If you do not like crowds and a constant noise level that goes with that, I would stay in a moderate. We noticed that the guests seemed very different from our experience last year at CBR. This is in no way intended to generalize POP quests, and is MO only. Everyone really seemed stressed out. I can relate to the earlier post from Paris. My 10 year old was actually hit while in the pool by a 14 yr old over a mistaken identity. Some of the kids were very much unsupervised and out of control. I REALLY felt bad for the life guards. Several told me that POP's Hippie Dippie is a very tough pool to guard. They much preferred the pools at CBR. There were also many parents actually encouraging their children to ignore the guards.

From some of the interactions I had with guests, IMO, I think some of the stress was related to people trying to accomplish WAY TO MUCH in TOO SHORT a stay. I really got the impression that a large number of guests really should not have booked until they could have stayed a few days longer. Not many guest had smiles on their faces.

Anyway that is MO. I usually don't post trip comments, but felt strongly about this. Have a nice trip. :earsboy:

We spent 9 nights in the beginning of July....we had no noise issues. I heard someone elses toilet flush like 3 times....didn't bother us. We did Carribean Beach in 2002, after the renovation, and there's not a big difference. More people, but food court always went smoothly. Our only beef was waiting for a bus out of the MK at closing one night (July 3 after the July 4 fireworks). It was our only real wait...but 35 minutes was too long. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again...it looks so neat at night...all lit up!!! Give it a shot!!! :teeth:

We stayed there in March/April and loved it. DH and I are going back in September, and I gave him the choice of staying somewhere else, but he insisted on Pop. Our room was clean, no noice (on 2nd floor - 70's), the resort is well done, and the food was above average for a food court. If you do not spend a lot of time at your resort, it is a nice choice. The pools were great, too, even if there was no slide. Loved the arcade, too.

We really love it. Goilng back for a third stay in Sept. Both times we went last year it was quiet, buses were a 10 minute wait max. Food is hit or miss, like most counter service. Pools were great, not too crowded (except for when the PopWarner cheerleaders/footballers were around...). The CM's were really great. Friendly, pleasant, helpful. It's a very 'Disney' resort.

Whether you're going to like it totally depends on you and your attitude for the most part. If you enjoy lots of amenities and being pampered, Pop is probably going to come up short. If you're just looking for a convenient, clean, new, larger than life, bustling, 'Disney'-fied motel with all the basic advantages of an on-site resort (free transport, EMH, package delivery, charging privileges, etc.), then it's hard to go wrong with Pop. Like I said, we really love it but it will totally depend on the person and what you're looking for.

We enjoyed it......bus service was great...food was good.
If your going to spend a lot of time in your room, you may want to consider
going to a moderate, because the rooms are on the small side.

I requested a top floor to minimize the noise. We were in the 60's room
4438 it was wonderful.

It all depends on your demands. My 13yr old loved it and so did my husband.

I would definitely stay there again.............. :flower:

We took our 4 1/2 yr old DS for his first visit to WDW 4/22-4/30 2005. It was a perfect place for us. We didn't have a noise problem. We stayed in the 50's bldg. facing landscape/parking lot. It took under 10 minutes to check in. I am probably sure different experiences happen because of what week/season it is at WDW. After 8 PM it could get crowded in the food court area but we didn't have any complaints. We love the convenience of staying on-site with or without children. We love the atmosphere of the Disney resorts :teeth:

Have FUN it is DISNEY :jumping1:

After staying at all of the deluxes we have stayed at Pop three times now and love it. I think the deluxes are highly over rated. I just wish we had back all the money we spent on those deluxes. We had a great time just not worth $200 - $400 a night compaired to my AP rate at Pop for $49.

Our family likes POP very much! The food court does offer a variety
of foods so you can find something everyone will eat. Our rooms have
always been very clean and CMs very helpful! :sunny:

Love Pop Century. Would definitely stay there again. This time I am trying something different, but I did consider goin with Pop again this year. Food was very good. I also loved walking around and looking at all the different icons, and the signs on the back pathway for every year with a few events that happened that year! I look forward to staying there again in the future.

although i only stayed there for one night with my DS i found the resort to be quite nice. i really liked the grounds and all of the period icons. i especially liked the way the pool area by the bowling pin pool was made to look like an actual alley. wouldnt mind staying there again.

the only drawback i found concerning pop was the food court gift shop area. i find that this didnt work well. i feel that the few times we walked through there it was so crowded and hectic that i really didnt want to shop there. mass confusion seem to reign here. the food was good though. this same concept did seem to work at SS. i think that the much smaller crowds there made it easy to shop.

would i stay at pop again? definitly too many good points

I do! We liked Pop, and would go again. However, we would request 50's or 70's building. We were put in practically Georgia.. it was the 80's 90's section.

The pros of that section was:
Very quiet quiet pool
not much noise
very sedate
not many slamming doors,etc.

The cons:
The Icee we got in the main bldg would have melted by the time we got to the room.
It was a heck of a walk to the room with a tray of food from the food court

I am a true hotel snob!! :rolleyes2 At least that's what my husband calls me!! Honestly, when we travel if our hotel is not at least a 3 star, I will not stay in it unless everything else is booked :rolleyes1 I have stayed at POP twice and to be honest, I really have had a great time there. POP seems to be perfect for every age, my mom love the sixties theming and my 80 almost 81 year old grandma loved the memorabilia it brought back a lot of happy memories for her. The kids loved the fun pools and the big icons and I loved everything..the gift shop, the food court, the pool, the efficient bus service and the theming. Just so that you know, we have stayed at AKL, Poly, Contemporary, Dolphin, POFQ, POR and ASMU(yuck!). My favorites are Poly and POR, but, from now on POP will be my third favorite :cool1:
I know my husband cannot believe it either!!! ;)

My son and I survived Hurricane Frances there last year, so it holds a special place in our hearts. ;)

I like the food court there the best of all of the Value's. For a quick, comando trip or inexpensive trip, I would recommend it highly. For a longer trip where you would "hang out" more at the resort, I think I would go with a moderate or better if possible.

The only bus issue we had there was for Downtown Disney. But, no matter which resort I have stayed in, (from Value to Deluxe) I have always had bad luck when it comes to that bus route.

We stayed there 10 days last August. I loved this place. I am going back for a week this August.

My family and I stayed at two moderates before staying at Pop and we actually liked Pop better. We liked all the hotels, but Pop really made a great first impression on us.

This resort has Disney all over it. It really feels like you are at one of the parks. Pop is a feast for the eyes.

THE BEST RESORT for the $!

We liked it so much last year, we are going back in 3 days. I even stopped my DVC purchase because we'd rather be @ the POP.

Very clean, Best WDW Bus Service, The absolute BEST staff, FUN decor, Small but very nice rooms! Really can't say enough GOOD things about it.
