yI am curious as to how many tvs each household has versus the numner of people?

Does the tv has access to channells, cable/satelite or are they for gaming?

We are a family of 7. Three boys 13, 14, & 15 yrs old. Older 2 share room. Two girls 11 and almost 8 yrs old (separate bedrooms).

Our main family room's tv is the only one set up to Directv to have tv watching capabilities. This is sometimes frustrating when the boys planned to watch a show that is inappropriate for the younger girls.

This tv has been failing with a picture problem. With all the superbowl sales, DH got a great deal on a new one. So it is awesome, but again the only one hooked up to be able to watch actual channels.

The older boys got the hand-me-down tv for gaming.....xBox Live. Middle DS got their hand-me-down with an old vcr to watch movies, although he will hardly use it.

Older DD got middle DS's old hand-me-down tv, she is so excited. I was hoping to be able to skip the girls. She can play older GameCube games and watch all her girlie movies with her sister.

We do have a good tv in the master bedroom but it is not hookup to satelite and thus is used to watch Dvds. I would like to have tv station access in this room as well as the family room because there are times when the boys are watching things & the girls and I just want to watch some decorating shows, etc.

Does anyone know how much it costs to have an additional tv hooked up to Directv?

I never imagined having so many tvs in one household. People were quite surprised when we only had 2 tvs with one recieving channels.

I'm not sure how I like these arrangements, but I told everyone that I was going to give it a try. Not fighing or fussing and all will be well.

Wish me luck. LOL!

So, what is the size of your family, how many tvs do you have, and what are they used for?

Thanks for sharing.

I think I only pay $5 or $10 a month more for my Master bedroom DirecTV...but I am calling tomorrow to cancel all my service and switch to only what we get for free and from Netflix. I gave the kids one month with Netflix and Satellite and they hardly ever watch the Satellite anymore...I think DH might be the biggest baby about it!

But I don't thinkit will cost that much for you to add service to another tv.

family of 4 - mom, dad, ds9 & ds15.

Big TV in bonus room upstairs connected to Dish Network box that has 2 receivers. 2nd receiver is connected to TV downstairs in den. 3rd TV in master BR has its own Dish Network box.

The box with 2 receivers has a DVR that can record up to 175 hours of normal recording; and about 30 hours of HD recordings.

DS9 & DS15 do not have TVs in their rooms. Nope. Not now, not ever. If they want a TV in their room, they can move out.

So, 3 TVs, connected to two Dish Network boxes.

Family of four (DS11 and DD13 plus two parents). One TV in living room hooked up to sattellite. Nothing else.

Family of four with 3 TVs:

Family room
Living room

(no TVs in DD15's or DS11's rooms)

Family of 3. We have a TV in the living room and a TV in the bedroom. We would like to get one for our workout room and one for our playroom when we finish it. We have Direct TV hooked up to both of ours.

1.Den tv is our main family TV= watching tv, wii game once in awhile
2.Master bedroom-
3.dd11 bedroom

Family of 3 (me, DH, DD2). We have 3 TVs - 1 in the family room (DVR/cable/Wii), 1 in our room (cable), and 1 in the guest room (no cable). DH keeps his work clothes in the guest room and likes to have the news on when he is getting dressed. We may let DD have a TV in her room when she is in HS for DVDs only - that's what my parents did for me and I liked it. :)

1 person 2 tv.s

family of 5, 3 tv's all have directv only family room has dvr. gaming system is in the basement

Family of 5. Lately just 1 tv [remodeling] but typically 2. 1 in FR and 1 in rec room. We have DISH with DVR and a Wii.

Kids would love their own tv but NOT HAPPENING. And we all share 1 computer. [Well, I have a laptop but don't share. LOL].

Family of 6 (4 Kids) one TV in living room, no gaming system. It is hooked up to DTV and a DVD player. They all watch the same things ...Discovery, History, Animal Planet, Science National Geographic and Disney. Once on a while a little Boomerang but I can only tolerate so much of that. If on of the shows is what I feel is inappropriate during their TV time they may change the channel to someting more appropriate or the TV goes off.

We are now a family of 4 again, DS moved back home from college and we have 5 TVs with 4 being hooked up to UVERSE which means all the stations and DVRs. DS only has his TV for his DVDs and it isn't hooked up to any kind of cable. We have 4 computers with a wireless network so they all have internet. We don't have any gaming systems right now but we have had them over the years.

Family of 4. 2 TVs. Both have cable.

Our main TV is in the living room. It has the DVD player and Wii hooked to it.

Dh and I have a small 13" tube TV in our bedroom. :) This comes in handy when someone wants to watch a different show or for when someone is sick and wants to watch TV in bed. There is no DVD player or game system here. We don't watch this TV on a daily basis, but it is nice to have for the reasons stated.

We have 2 adults, 2 kids, 5 TVs. One in our sitting area of our bedroom is hooked up to Direct TV. Two small ones are in storage. Two large ones in DSs room, one hooked up to Direct TV, one I got at a thrift sale for $50-for the Wii.

Surprisingly, we don't have a TV in any of our common areas.

We have 2 TVs for a family of 4, but only one of them has cable and that is basic cable only. I almost never watch anything except law and order reruns and my DD17 is addicted to reality TV.
