How many people go to Universal?

We don't go "off property" every trip, but we sometimes do. In December, we took the kids to Sea World. It was an enjoyable, albeit expensive, day. I don't like the new dolphin show though.

In November, DH and I spent two days at Universal/IOA before moving over to Disney. We had a really good time. We stayed at the Portofino Hotel, which is an incredible property. I would love to stay there again. Since we were on site, we had the head of the line passes, so were able to blow through the parks in a few hours (we skipped Hulk and Dueling Dragons). CityWalk is better than Pleasure Island too.

I might try and work in Universal next trip, not so sure about Sea World.

This way you get the best of both worlds :woohoo:

Last year we did Universal 1st with 2 days and then Disney for 8 days/ Now this year we decided we needed more days for both places so we are going o Disney 1st for 10 days and then onto Universal for 5 days (We thought ending our vacation with FOTL).

We Loved Universal so much that we will be working that into our vacation every year we go to Disney.

As far as Sea World...we were going to go there this year, but decided against it since we just went to the one in San Diego last year.

We will be at Disney June 5th through the 12th. Then onto Universal June 12th through the 17th. This year we are adding a day to go to Sea World. We always do both Disney and Universal on every visit. We add Sea World about once every three visits. We love Disney and Universal!!!! You will have a great time! When are you going? Have fun.

OMG! This sounds just like our vacation. Get this, we check into POR from June 3-10, Universal/IOA/SeaWorld from June 10-16th. Then we finish back at the Dolphin from 6/16-18. Guess what? we are also from Iowa. Where do you live? Where will you be staying when you go?
"It's a Small World after all!!"

In the past we have always stayed at Disney for 5 days and headed over to Universal for the last 2 days of our vacation. Let me say I love Universal and IOA.

The front of the line access for resort guests is wonderful. It allows us to go at a slower pace, see everything we want to and still have time to relax in the pool. Last year DH & I must have gone on MIB at least 15 times in a row. I LOVE this attraction.

We have always stayed at the Hard Rock and enjoyed it. Our DD, who was a teen when we started staying here, really liked it. I do think it is a great resort for families with teenagers.

are strictly just that, we never leave the property once there. Years ago, when we used to drive to WDW, we would stop the first night, after driving straight through at Daytona or Cocoa Beach, for the ocean and for me to unwind and rest from the drive. Next day we would do the 2 hour drive to WDW . We had a Sea World in Ohio years ago and ran that into the ground when the kids were small and still home and we have Cedar Point north of us but we're not thrill ride seekers and never go. So once on Disney soil, thats where we want to stay and it holds everything we want.

My DH and MIL went to Universal (both parks in one day) in November and they thought that the 3D/4D rides there were far superior to WDW. They had a blast and we're all looking forward to the day that my DD can go (so that I can go!). With that said, it was one day out of 9, and our last trip we went to Seaworld one day out of 5, so WDW obviously has our hearts.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal is our actual motivation for visiting each fall. We tend to alternate years staying at Universal or WDW but, no matter where we're staying, we usually visit both property's parks during our stay because we enjoy Universal and WDW equally.

We're going this year - my DH insisted. I've never been. He went for a day last December when I was with a conference at the BC. He did both parks in 1 day, and so this year we're adding a day for US and IOA to our Disney trip with DNiece and DNephew. However, it's really not cost effective - 1 day rental car $30 plus tickets for 4 to both parks for day at $213 = $243 for 9 am - 6 pm at these parks, vs. about $4 total for an extra day on our Disney tickets...

Maybe I'll love it too and decide its worth the extra money.

this is our son first yr to SW and DC He has been to US and IOA before. so do WDW every yr and everyother for US and IOA and SWevery couple yrs.
this year it go like this
1 day SW
1 day DC
3 days IOA and US with FOTL
10 days WDW
I
 WDW can you tell!

How many of you go to Universal or Sea World or other places while staying at Disney?

We're going to go to Universal and Sea World. Haven't been since 2001 so I'm a bit excited to go.

How about you?
we usually go to either/or. this next trip (just 20 more days) was 'supposed' to be just 2 disney parks and some relaxing at the hotel (rented SSR points) but then sneaky universal sent us a free ticket with reduced price extra tickets... so one day at US/IOA for us!

I know! Those prices just kill me too :sad2: ! Dis does makes it WAY TOO EASY and COST EFFECTIVE to stay put on WDW property!

My sis did Disney and Universal over spring break. It was her first time at a Universal hotel, and she couldn't get over how wonderful it was. She loved RPR, but said her Swan stay at Disney wasn't the greatest or most hospitable.

We will be doing Seaworld on our first day, which is a short day because of arrival. Then, on to 7 nights in Disney, then 2 nights at Universal. I put the Universal days at the end of the trip, because if we did Universal first, we would be so spoiled by the FOTL access, that we would miss it in Disney.

We're definitely spending a day at Universal/IOA during our trip in May. We did both parks in one day last March and had a blast. It's definitely a different feel than WDW but it's still fun!

As for Sea World... I haven't been there in over a decade...

Have thought about a day at Seaworld, maybe next year. Considered Universal, but to stay at their hotel when I have DVC and no other alternative but nearly double ticket price for a fastpass just doesn't appeal to me--maybe someday when I want to conserve weekend points! We have been to US/IOA and had a good time, just not $800+ for two days for admission and fast pass for a family of four good (that's enough for 2 AP's at WDW).

We always combine a WDW trip with US and IOA. We only spend a few days between the two which is easy as we stay on I-drive. We also visit SW but usually only for 1-1 1/2 days. We also do BG as it is usually a few years between visits, we like to get the most out of each trip. We usually go in November and therefore the lines are shorter in WDW and practically non-existent in US, even in June last year (IOA had a few bigger waits).

We always plan at least 2 days for US/IOA. Truth be told, I like these parks better than WDW! We loved SW also, but don't have any plans yet to go back on our trip in Dec.
