We don't go "off property" every trip, but we sometimes do. In December, we took the kids to Sea World. It was an enjoyable, albeit expensive, day. I don't like the new dolphin show though.
In November, DH and I spent two days at Universal/IOA before moving over to Disney. We had a really good time. We stayed at the Portofino Hotel, which is an incredible property. I would love to stay there again. Since we were on site, we had the head of the line passes, so were able to blow through the parks in a few hours (we skipped Hulk and Dueling Dragons). CityWalk is better than Pleasure Island too.
I might try and work in Universal next trip, not so sure about Sea World.
