how many people bought DVC after a stay at a value?

Before DVC we always stayed at values. We stayed at all of the all-stars and even tried Pop. For our honeymoon we did splurge and stayed at a moderate. I knew that once DW stayed at DVC there would be no going back. So we rented and stayed at BC and bought when we got home.

We booked a quick trip down in early 2000 for two main reasons. Main Street Electrical parade was leaving and we wanted to see it one last time and we wanted to tour DVC. We had already talked with our guide and she was making up the paperwork as we were 99.9% we were going to buy. We stayed at All Stars and let me tell you that once we stayed there and then saw the king size bed in the one bedroom and the jacuzzi tub I was hooked. :lmao: We signed the papers right away. On our first trip to DVC we ended up with a Boardwalk view (before it was a separate booking category) one bedroom in early December and knew we had made a good choice in buying DVC. 10 years later we are very happy with our DVC purchase.

We stayed at 3 of the value resorts and there was a deal on the Carribean. After the week at the Moderate, we knew we could not go back. Granted the room size was great, but what we really liked was no bus rides to the theme parks. There was no mob of people to board the bus, and not one packed like sardines.

I DID we stayed at pop...my sister was the one going on the tour...i just tagged along...shes wasnt interested she was only in it for the gift card...but i ended up being the one to buy in:goodvibes

We did! :lmao: First stay was at the WL, when we took our girls for the first time last year, stayed at Pop. Came home and bought DVC within 2 weeks. Looking at signatures, it looks like there are several in the same boat. Just curious.

Back in June 10th, 1997 , we got off the plane at MCO at 11am drove over to VB to have a-look-see,was not for us. Drove back to OKW,[ sale offices where there in 97] got there just before closing ,signed on the dotted line before 6pm.Then went and checked in, I think it was the Music resort. Called DVC every day to see if we could book in at OKW, finally we got booked into a 1 bedroom villa for the last 5 days of our vacation.........been back there lots of times.....same build.....the same room,.....5521........It's home.

That is sooo sweet. I love that. :lovestruc

I wouldn't change a thing about my stays at AsM when my son was small. Mousekeeping really knew how to make a trip special over there for the kids. We would come home every day to the stuffed animals in a different spot, In the window looking for us, watching TV in a chair with the clicker. It's magical to hear your 4 yo whisper to stuffed animals - Big Dog and Lucky - "I always knew you were real!!"

Now he's 13 and spoiled by DVC and I couldn't imagine being in that same AsM room with him. LOL When I first bought DVC I thought I would be happy in a studio at WDW, but find ourselves in 2 BR!!!!

Yup this is definitely my story, bought DVC when we were planning our honeymoon trip to AKL, ended up staying AKV & WL. Our only previous on-site stay had been in Pop Century which we both enjoyed quite a bit, but obviously we've now been spoilt :)

OMG this is our situation almost Exactly!!

We LOVED our stays @ POP for the exact reasons!! Although the rooms were small, mousekeeping did an AMAZING job of decorating our rooms, and we loved decorating the windows. Also love the food court and Bob who was our "Disney insider" at the time in the gift shop. My son bought this HUGE Jack Sparrow that talked, and mousekeeping made a hat for him, and put him in the window. Had him hanging from the blind cord so it looked like he was on a boat..I will NEVER forget that, it was SUCH a "WOW" moment for us returning to our room.

That said, I was originally going to buy a small number of points for a studio at OKW (the studios are literally like twice the size of value rooms). Then we stayed in a 1br on developer points (DON'T do this if you haven't already people :lmao:) and now only book 2br's.

We loved our stays @ POP, but once you have privacy, space and a kitchen, it's almost impossible to go back :worship:

We stayed in the values for a few years, then upgraded to a mod. Our last trip before we purchased DVC (we came home with our DVC paperwork) we'd had it! 10 days in a cramped hotel room was enough. I don't care how neat a person or a family is, after 5 days, the room was starting to look like Stitch had moved in and we had no room to spread out at all! We've only stayed in a 1 or 2BR (we've been able to share the magic with friends since we've had our DVC) and our only regret is that we didn't buy in sooner! Hoping to do an add-on sometime this year!

Our son has life threatening food allergies. We were thrilled by WDW's attitude to accommodating special dietary restrictions.

I tend to be a bit frugal and have always booked value resorts in off season. Prior to being DVC owners, we only paid for dinning one time.

Our favorite resort prior to buying DVC was POP. Everything we loved about POP was overshadowed by the fact that even though our vacations were in the off season with free dinning, POP was at maximum capacity.

September 2008 we decided to bump up to a moderate at POR. Free dinning and the resort was booked to capacity. What a mess!!! With all the confusion, Disney cast members continued to treat our son like a superstar.

We decided to take the DVC tour and purchased at AKL. We stayed at a one bedroom at Kidani for the first time in December 2009. After two days, I called our DVC Guide to add AKL points.

We can’t say enough good things about WDW and the Cast Members that make it great. Upon arriving home from vacation, we always send a letter to WDW Customer Relations complimenting Cast Members by name for going above and beyond.
