do u guys drive or fly to WDW?I live in colorado sooo its a long drive but my dad luvs it anyway.post away!!

I can not waste 13 hours driving on a vacation day. I am too impatient. I must get there fast and start having fun.

We live in NJ and have done both. It's about a 22 hour drive and we usually go straight through. We leave about 5PM and the kids play video games and then sleep. The only problem is DH and I are pretty weary the first day of the trip.

We aren't heading down this year but when we go next year we're flying. Already booked! Can't wait.

We've done both, from Connecticut, it is a really long drive....yuk! However, for $124 r/t on Southwest, flying was cheaper than driving...go figure! Preference is always fly if it's cheap enough!

I live in Upstate NY...so I try to fly-but if worst comes to worst I drive to NYC to get a cheaper flight.

We too have done both from Ohio, this trip is a straight flight on Allegiant Air! When we drove we left in the evening and missed all major rush hours and the kids slept the entire night! Defianately prefer to fly but wouldn't rule out driving again.

We always have driven from PA! :car: It wouldn't be a Disney trip to me without the fabulous 18 hr drive with 6 kids!

Seriously, we don't mind it. We usually stop in Georgia so we drive 12 hrs the first day and around 6 on the second day. We certainly get lots of fun and not so fun memories from those drives. I actually priced airfare last year, but I just could not bring myself to spend over $1800 more for transportation for all 8 of us. It's still a bargain for us to drive even when gas prices are soooo high.

:welcome: to the board!

Growing up in CT, we drove every February - lots of great memories and landmarks that lit our way to the world. Now that I live in Colorado (and have driven cross country more times than I would like to count), we fly.

We will drive. We live in alabama but its still about 9 1/2 hours from us, then because of time zone differences, we lose an hour too. Hubby has family (too much ;) ) all over florida, some about an hour from Orlando, we will probably stop and visit, hopefully not until on the way back though. :rolleyes1

From March to September we drive...otherwise we fly. We have done the drive at Christmas a couple of times, but scared the bejeebers out of me worrying about weather. Actually had good weather but was hit by a semi! Just so you know...don't bother honking. They can't hear you! That is what the driver told me after he had taken off because he didn't realize he'd hit me. Did get the best massage at SSR that trip!

Drove once (from Chicago) before the kids - drove once when the kids were small - boy, those built in DVD players would have been great - wouldn't even think about driving now - too old - bad back - no stamina for staying awake all those hours - I would bet most of the marathon drivers , have driven when they should have been tucked into bed - I understand the time constraint - but I'd have to make it a 2 day trip ( which is we did when we drove the kids down there). If you can fly - it sure helps stretch the vacation days.

I drive from Southern Indiana. It is about a 12-13 hr drive. Of course it helps to be a police officer so if you need to make up time you can :rolleyes1 . 12 hrs isn't to bad, I just drive it strait thru.

We drive every year from NW Ohio (I don't like to fly). It is exactly
1,159 miles from our driveway to the front gate at the Wilderness Lodge :car:
