How many park days do you need to make Premium Pass worthwhile?

If we ever planned a trip to DLR in the same year as WDW, I'd really like to know this. We often do AP's for WDW, but not PAP's. Has anyone done the math? Thanks!

I did the math for our trips - 10 days WDW + 5 days DL in the same year. It wasn't even close to being worth the Premier Passport (not to be confused with the Premium passport for WDW) - and I so wanted it to be to have that pass. We got the WDW AP (DVC price with a GAD credit to boot - we also have a bunch of water park days from hoppers over the years so we don't need water park coverage) and will get 5 day DL park hoppers for under $200.

From what I remember you'd have to spend a lot of days at DL to make it worth it. I don't know if I'm remembering my costs accurately, but the PAP was like $700 - and the WDW DVC AP is only around $350. You can get a whole lot of days at DL with specials on tickets for the cost difference.

My guess is the Premier pass makes the most sense for a DL local that has a WDW trip planned.

Double checked the WDW DVC AP Prices...$400 first year, the renewal is about $350.

I think it starts with needing an AP at either WDW or DL. It was easy for us, as we needed an AP at both!

If for your planned trips you need a DL PAP (about $460), then it is likely you will come out ahead if you plan a 3 day WDW trip with either PHing or Water parks (about $297), so $757 total, which is more than the $722 that the Premier costs.

If you need a DL DAP (about $330), then you need to plan 6 days at WDW with PH (about $370), for it to make sense.

If you need a WDW PAP, then one multi-day trip to DL will probably push you to a Premier. With a less expensive WDW AP (not Premium or DVC or renewal), it will probably take 2 DL trips for it to make sense. It's hard to quantify beyond that as DL often has discounted tickets. But assume that 3 days will almost always cost you at least $150 if you don't live in So Cal.

Hope this helps. -- Suzanne

Okay, we don't have the GAD discount or renewal on AP, only regular DVC. We often do an AP for WDW and plan to go more than once. Last Christmas we were in the parks for 11 days, plus a short trip in Feb. and a long trip again later in the year.

We are looking at a 5 day trip to DLR sometime in 2012.

If we did a Premier AP, we'd finally get our family over to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, something we never seem to take time for. Those are included, right? It's like a PAP?

So how many park days at WDW would we need to make this financially worth it? Probably two trips, right?

HOpe that's more info to be helpful. Thanks for helping me think this through!

Sounds like a WDW AP is a no brainer for 2+ trips. If you plan to go to the water parks more than 2 times, then the Premium WDW AP makes sense. For an Adult DVC PAP, the price is $537. Add a DL 5 day online PH for $211 and you are better off buying the Premier ($722 for the Premier v. $748 for the 2 tickets).

However, if you are buying children's tickets (no childrens discount for the Premier) or really only need the standard WDW DVC AP ($425), then 2 tickets will make more financial sense than the the Premier. Hope that helps. -- Suzanne

Thank you so much. :worship:

Sadly, the children are no longer children! Okay, we have a lot think about, thanks!!

So for another $26 each, we could do Disney Quest, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, ESPN Wide World of Sports, and subscriptions to DLR Backstage Pass and Family Fun Magazine? Hmmm. These are things we have never done because the added cost for a family of 6 is just so much. But, maybe this way...

Boy, I'd better work some serious overtime this year! :rotfl:

No the price of the Premier vs a WDW DVC AP (without water parks) + 5 day DL PH is $86 per person. At the current price of $45 per person (with a $4 DVC disocunt) for a single day admisrion to a water park, the break even is just less than 2 days at the water parks. -- Suzanne
