How many Pajamas are normal?

I think I have 2 "nicer" sets for when we go on vacation and then maybe 2 pairs of sweatpants and 3 long sleeve shirts for winter and 2 pairs of capris and 2-3 short sleeve shirts for summer. Like a prior poster, these aren't matched sets, just various things that aren't fit for everyday wear, maybe t-shirts with logos that I don't like or sweatpants that are too baggy. Recently, I went through my PJs drawer and tossed out some t-shirts that were really getting old so I guess I might have had 5-6 tops for each season before I decluttered.

My DD has approximately 2 sets for summer and 2 sets for winter. We wear our PJs for a full week before washing them, though (we only do laundry once a week)

Wow - I never knew so many people were into PJ's.

The ONLY time I wear them is when we are not at home. Same with the hubs and our boys. They sleep in their undies. And I sleep in panties and one of the hubs t-shirts. But I usually end up taking that off the shirt because it feels so binding to me. :rotfl:

So for away trips I have 2 night shirts. The hubs has 1 pair on PJ pants that he'll wear a t-shirt with until he gets into bed, then they all come off like at home. And our boys usually sleep in a older set of their play cloths. Which are a thin shirt and thin cotton shorts. They sell them in sets at wal-mart. Since I find them for around $5 a set on clearance and PJ's are normally around $8-10 a set.

So yea... I guess we're odd. ;)

Wow!

DH sleeps in boxers and I sleep in whatever old tshirt I can find. In the winter I'll wear sweatpants or flannels and a sweatshirt.

Having said that, I'm working from home starting next week and this thread is making me want more PJ's. . .

OP, I agree with PP's that while you may have a few too many pairs of pajamas, it doesn't necessarily make you a hoarder.

You can mention something to your family doctor during a well visit and he or she might be able to help you diagnose.

Since some of my Disney shirts wear out quickly I make them PJ tops, I have old clothes, winter, summer, tops, shorts, capri's that work for sleeping in and aren't too revealing should I run into to someone on the way to the bathroom. It is a laundry basket full that i need to go thru now and make cleaning rags out of the worst!!

I think also it depends upon what types of PJs you have in each pile. I actually break my PJs into 4 piles. I have my deep winter ultra warm pjs pile, my late fall/early spring pjs which are light weight but still cover me and my shorts & T-shirts warm weather PJs and my "It's so hot I can't stand to wear more than the absolute minimum/I'd be naked if the kids weren't apt to come running in any second" PJs (Yeah we only have 1 window AC). Enough for a weeks worth of each type. So I probably have as many as you, I just categorize them differently.

ok, I'm probably a PJ hoarder, too. I love Landsend soft PJs and gowns, they last forever. Bad habit of wearing concert tees with crazily patterned lounge pants. A few flannels for winter. And I just recently found V. Bradley pants on Ebay. I won't count mine because I don't want to know, but I have a small dresser filled with just PJs.

Have a really bad habit of putting on the tees and lounge pants after work if we are taying in. I'm a nurse and change my clothes ASAp after coming home d/t worry about germs.

Plus, PJs always fit, so I like buying them more than clothes, lol

I have 5 -- 3 summer (gown -- short), 1 winter gown (comes down to the knees), and 1 set of Lands End PJs.

My mom tends to buy nightwear for me (thanks to many Vanity Fair trips to Reading, PA), and I discipline myself that if I keep the new one she gets (:rolleyes1), I get rid of an old one.

Me: 1 pr flannel pj's
1 pr micro fleece pj's
2 prs capri length knit pants -with these I have 6 t-shirts to mix and match that are only sleeping shirts...ie really ratty looking
1 knit cotton gown that I have been known to use at the resorts as a swimsuit cover

DH: 1 pr knee length cotton knit shorts
1 pr full length lounge pants
3 prs light weight long sleeve pj's
3 prs flannel pj's

DD: 7 prs Summer short pj's & tops
7 prs long leg/sleeve knit pj's
2 prs fleece pj's

And I sleep in panties and one of the hubs t-shirts. But I usually end up taking that off the shirt because it feels so binding to me. :rotfl:

Ok, if I did that, THAT would be the night the house would burn to the ground and we'd be running out into the street in all our glory!! :rotfl:

Seriously, that is exactly why I personally wear PJ's! I have a few sets for summer and winter and also some things that don't match but are comfy. OP, yeah, it sounds like a lot, but I'd love to have that many. Like the others have asked, it's more about the overall picture, not just the PJ's.

O.k I have 3 pair of pj's and 1 nightgown. I think more than that is over the top for me. Just saying.

I think how many PJs you have depends on where you live. I live in the NE; I need really warm ones, somewhat warm ones, in between ones, and really hot ones. Our temps vary by at least 75 degrees throughout the year--which means I need stuff for pretty cold (20F) and pretty hot (95F). Just saying that's why some of us have more than others... Plus, how are lots of PJs that different than lots of old tees and sweats? I think they look prettier! :)

For awhile there I thought I was the only one thinking "PJ's? Really? Do people wear those :rotfl2:?!?

I LOVE pj's and am always buying cute ones! Each season they seem to be cuter and cuter!! So I don't think you have too many. I probably have 30 or so pair myself, plus a few pairs of Disney ones I keep down in my Owner's Locker!

It's really no different than having lots of shoes or purses (both of which I am guilty of ;)) I just love to shop. But no way am I a hoarder!! In fact I'm the one who is always getting rid of stuff. (That way I have room for new things!!:thumbsup2)

I have maybe 5 sets but only wear a couple regularly.

My girlfriend has 7 sets each for each of her 4 boys. They never wear anything more than once before it gets thrown in the laundry. I'm not organized enough to do that much laundry! It's hard enough to keep up with my boys' laundry and I only take care of the youngest ones'!

I know someone like that! She has goodness knows how many sets of PJs for each of her 2 kids (and don't get me started on the clothes...). I know when I was growing up, my 2 brothers and I sure didn't have that many! Then again, my mom was a SAHM and had the time to do and fold multiple loads of laundry.

I have so many things to sleep in that I actually have several drawers in my closet devoted to them as well as a lingerie chest for the more delicate ones. I actually change PJs during the course of the night too. For example lounging about watching TV downstairs at night requires one set of PJs. When I go to sleep, I go lighter weight and sexier. I probably have 30 to 40 items in the rotation, changing them out as the weather changes.

I love pj's also! They are so comfy and cute too! I would not worry. Being comfortable is good for you..helps relieve stress and makes you feel good about yourself :)

Am I the only one who wears the same night clothes all year around? I live in Illinois and I have...

two nightshirts, lots of tee-shirt tops, three pairs of shorts bottoms, and three pairs of pant bottoms. Most of the time I just sleep in panties and a tee-shirt top. I've also recycled my faded Disney shirts to the jammie drawer.

I'm cheap and I love to wear my comfortable, worn stuff at night. It always feels better than new stuff.

i dont count. i have a policy not to count items, what is too much to one person is not enough to another. i estimate if you include all "sets" including nighties to flannel pjs sets i have at least 30. i rotate with the season and the occasion. i live at home so i cant sleep naked but would never be caught dead in ugly pjs in front of a boyfriend. there is no normal, there is only average.

Ok, if I did that, THAT would be the night the house would burn to the ground and we'd be running out into the street in all our glory!! :rotfl:

I gotta be honest - I'm not too worried about it. Like I said I do usually go to bed with a t-shirt on. Which means when I take it off it's right next to me on my nightstand. Easy enough to throw back on so the entire neighborhood doesn't see my 'girls'.

For awhile there I thought I was the only one thinking "PJ's? Really? Do people wear those :rotfl2:?!?

Exactly. ;)
