Santa is getting DD the Bitty Baby from American Girl for Christmas. I was looking online at their catalog and there are quit a few different outfits.

I am probably going to get her the starter collection. How many other outfits should I get her? I was thinking 3? or 4? Any recommendations for which ones are *better*? Any accessory recommendations?

Thanks! :)

Isabella adores her Bitty who she named Ruby after the sister on Max and Ruby. She owns a lot of outfits but we accumulated them slowly over the past 18 months or so. She gets a new outfit for Ruby for holidays and birthdays. She started with the doll (hers is fair and blue eyed like Isabella) and the suitcase and an additional outfit. We've added two holiday dresses, a snowsuit, an additional sleeper (one of the "old" style on sale), three play outfits and a couple of 'occasion' dresses. She loves them all but especially the suitcase which goes along with us and Ruby when we travel. She also lusts after the high chair, the crib and the stroller though we've purchased less expensive versions of those items elsewhere. She has Bitty Bear, of course plus Bitty Bunny and Bitty Duck. She has several of their toys too which come with the BItty Baby things. She mentioned how much she'd like the Bitty Twins but I'm not sure Santa is going to get those..................

Whatever you choose will be great. I did buy Isabella one outfit that matched Ruby but we had to send it back as it was itchy polyester. Ruby doesn't seem to mind though.

That's so cute your DD named her Ruby! My DD loves the cartoon Ruby and Max too. :)

I will have to look at the sale items. I didn't see those. Thanks for the help! :)

Grandma takes care of the Bitty Baby stuff!! Actually my DD's, now 8 and 10, started with their Bitty's at 2 1/2 and 10 months. Grandma got them EVERYTHING over several years from the strollers to the beds to the cute clothes. Now I notice that there is even cuter stuff for them but we're through and have moved on to American Girls. The outfit sets all come with the cutest stuff - we particularly loved the little books and accessories for the bears. We still play with it all today and it has held up quite nicely, although the cribs have really taken a beating and we had to throw one out. You know, kids climbing in them, etc. Have so much fun getting your DD's collection started!

Thanks! :)

The problem is trying to decide which ones to get! :teeth:

I haven't looked at the Bitty stuff in a while. When DD's were starting out, there was a "starter set" that came in a cute straw suitcase. It was awesome and that little staw suitcase is still in perfect shape after years of playing. I remember that it came with some cute outfits and a blanket with some little pretend baby powder, soap, lotion, etc. Way cute!

We bought the suitcase set, too. Very cute. You may want to look at the sale secton of the website. They usually have several of the outfits on sale that have been around for a few years.

My daughter loves the matching outfits for her and bitty baby. The clothes for the doll and my daughter are made very nice and don't fade after washing. Everything is cute--Bitty Bear has a house that you can buy--very cute! It's a toy you'll keep for your kids' kids.

My daughter got the starter set and 3 outfits when she got hers.

BUT, the starter set was the only thing that came from the AG company. You see, at all our local craft shows there are ladies who make clothes to fit Bitty Baby, so I bought hers there....dresses, shoes, tights, sleeping bag, hats, and sunglasses, too! MUCH cheaper than the "official" stuff, and at 3, my DD didn't mind! I also found dress for Bitty online at another ladies site....it just happened to match DD's Christmas dress in style and fabric! So we got it, too. The fancy Christmas dress for Bitty was only $16...quite a bargain.

There's a lady who is set up in a local craft consignment shop who sells clothes for the dolls. If we're celebrating some great achievement for DD, she gets to go in and get a new outfit for her "Dolly" as she's named. :teeth: When we lived in DC, we had a lady there who custom made some stuff for me to give my DNiece.... I'd bought DNiece leopard print jammies on sale at the Gap for $10 and had the lady make leopard print jammes for the doll to match. The doll's custom-made duds were $16, including the fabric that she'd had to go out and find. Felt silly paying more for doll clothes than kid ones, but she loved the matching outfits!

I am tempted by the matching clothes, though....and the trike set, too! That's a "maybe" for this year!

We love our Bitty Baby! DD is 9 now (but still loves the doll!), got the doll when she was 6. We've accumulated quite a few of the official outfits over the years. www.AmericanGirl.com has a sale section that I usually buy from. The regular prices are painful!

3 outfits is a great starter! Get some of the cheap ones from Walmart that will fit a 15 in doll if you want more. Your daughter most likely won't care.

Sounds like fun. Can I play, too?

My nieces both have bitty baby and love their back pack doll carriers. Also there is a cute Holiday outfit that comes out each yr. I also tend to shop sales section. I do like Red white and blue set and the set with strawberries that girls seem to really love playing with.
