How many OOP meals on DDP??

Even if I hadn't forgotten to pack the meal bars and cereal, we still would have had to pay for a couple meals oop. We even upgraded our 8 year old to the adult plan. Our normal breakfasts at home have a protein, bread, and a fruit/veggie. We did use our snack credits at breakfast normally for the yogurt parfaits, bagel and or muffin to supplement. My DH and two sons got a hot breakfast everyday. DH and my oldest are pretty voracious eaters and just having a pastry would never have cut it. I would just plan on the funds for at least two OOP meals per person. If you find that you have more than enough food without suppementing great, you have extra money to bring home.

We don't normally do dessert at home after meals so we did take fruit when it was option but did enjoy the treats when we had them:cool1:

In all the times we've used DDP (Paid for Jan. 05., free Sept. 05, 06, 07, 08, and 09, and Free QSDP in Sept. 2010) we have never paid OOP for a Disney Meal except for a few times when DD11 was counted as a child and I opted to pay OOP at a few of the 2 TS restaurants since using 2 TS credits for them wasn't a good deal, money-wise. We saved enough TS by sharing meals between my DM and I that we used her extra TS for other meals.

Yes, you will have plenty of food. We always scramble the last day to use all or our credits. (partly because we eat the way we normally do-sharing meals, etlc.) Gives us some CS to use for the trip home.

We will pay out of pocket for T-Rex and Rainforest, also on our Universal day we will pay OOP to eat and a few days we will have OOP breakfast at the food court at our resort. But mostly we will being groceries to have food for breakfast in the room.

Just tips out of pocket for all the sit down meals for us for 10 days is going to run a couple hundred dollars. SO even ON the dining plan we are going to spend 5 or 6 hundred out of pocket.

I haven't even added the dining plan to my reservation yet. I am hoping to get FD sometime before we go and if we don't I will add it later.

But I don't want to try to find food items suitable for breakfast using snack credits. I will use the snack credits for snacks.

If you aren't a big breakfast eater you could prob get by with only using your dining plan snack credits for a pastry or muffin for breakfast then use your cs for lunch and ts for dinner and be set.

We are planning to use the DDP for our upcoming honeymoon and I have in the budget to pay out of pocket for breakfast. My fiance and I love to eat out for breakfast (although I eat like a bird!), so there's 3 or 4 places we want to try on our 9 days there. The other days we'll probably just pick up something in the park or something quick at the hotel. This is all of course, if they don't offer free dining. If they do, we're going to upgrade to DxDDP because I think my fiance will enjoy that more. He's a great eater. ha ha.

The regular dining plan is always too much food for us. With the heat & humidity, we just aren't that hungry every day. Plus, you get dessert with lunch and dinner, which we will frequently ask for "to go" so we save those for breakfasts or snacks. Thus we end up with a lot of snack credits left over before we leave for the airport.

If you have a lot of 2-credit meals planned then you might need to pay OOP for others. We always book at least 1 character breakfast so we save that for OOP if we need to. But we find we always cancel at least two ADR's for the week, just being too tired or not hungry enough for a TS meal that day, so we have plenty of credits available.

right now we are going for 7 nts/8 days and have 9 adr's. We are either going to pay oop for two breakfasts or try to decided 2 meals not to go to. Probably going to pay oop for the breakfasts, though. They are Cape May and 'Ohana. We're only doing one other character meal (Akershus) because we just like non-buffet dinners better.

I know what you mean exactly.

This year we are driving up from Miami in a rental car (Friends Wedding) and we will be paying OOP for that day's dinner (Non park-day, planned on using the $15 coupon for Planet Hollywood)

We have a CRT day planned for DD, after her BBB appmnt. (2Credits)

Then our Departure day will also be a non-park day but we are using a DDP credit to eat at Chef Mickey's (Breakfast) because we need to return to Miami airport to return rental car and catch our flight home (using frequent flier miles, was too difficult to plan 1way trips so I opted to drive a bit)

So my plan is to pay OOP for The Plaza on another day during our trip so we can use our DDP credits for CRT (Cheapest option by far!)

The way my sons eat, the dining plan works out for us. We pay for a few meals out of pocket because we often have dinner at signature restaurants. This trip we're paying out of pocket for breakfast at Boma, breakfast at Chef Mickey, lunch at Sci-Fi Dine In and dinner at T-Rex. We're also using TIW for our out of pocket meals and adult beverages.;)

We went this past October for 9 days. We paid OOP for one meal - Crystal Palace - because we had 10 ADR's. We looked at the menus, and we figured out which meal would be the least expensive, and we went with that. My DH is a big breakfast eater, as is my older DD, so we did several character breakfasts. We were on the regular dining plan.

We enjoy being able to sit down at nice meals - that is part of vacation for us. On our 2009 trip we paid OOP for Rainforest Cafe, which we loved!

Hope this helps.
