MS opens at 9 am Eastern time during the week and I think 1 pm Eastern on Saturday.

My paperwork just arrived today!!!!!!!!We are brand new members we just got temporary member cards with the paperwork today. We just committed to DVC last Thursday.

DW and I was reading all this stuff about craziness with ressies, and was wondering if we made the right decision by purchasing DVC. These people are scaring DW that we will never get our vacation times we want.

If you bought through DVC, you can call now (assuming you put a deposit down), you should be in the system.

If you want to stay at SSR, I don't think you will have a problem for June.

Welcome Home!

I am calling tomorrow for June.........TY, just got off the phone with my guide and he told me we can book now and that we are in the system already. I thought we had to wait til the actual closing date.

It is not worth my time to phone day by day. And I don't want to use that much of MS time to make a single reservation.

Literally just took me 4 minutes on the phone with MS to add night 4 to my 5 night reservations for BWV in December- not a lot of time out of my busy life in the scheme of things. :)

Welcome Home!

DW and I decided to go over 4th of July this year..........We will be there July 1-8.

Called this morning at 9am, got into call system right away, waited on hold for 2 minutes, booked full week in Studio at SSR July 1-8. No problem! Done in just minutes.

FYI for others looking at a trip over the 4th of July Holiday, MS said there were more studios available at SSR for the whole week. BCV only had July 1 availabe for a studio (did not ask for other room type) BWV had only July 1,3,5,7 available for a studio (did not ask for other room type)

Well, I hadn't used the day-by-day method before, but today's experience might change that.

I just called for a standard view 2BR for 12/2-9. I had to waitlist for 12/2, 3, 5, 6. :scared:

While there is usually lots of needless hype on the boards, every now and then you're bound to hit on a truth.

So, we're just back from vacation and I already need new pixie dust.

STANDARD view and those dates are the ONLY reason that was necesssary. I'm sure you could have gotten what you wanted with a preferrreed view but you were trying to pinch points with the SV.

SV and BWV and GV's may be the only reasons for day by day booking at 11 months.

Good luck on the waitlist, I'm sure it will come through, probably about 4 months from now.

I called yesterday and today to book a BWV 2 bdr boardwalk view Dec 8, 9. I have to go to the 15th and was told both days by MS to call EVERY morning to add my days, or I might not get one or more of the nights I need. I wasn't trying to "pinch points with the SV" as dumbo71 pointed out. :)

I will NEVER not call day by day anymore. I would be too dissapointed if I didn't get what I wanted-especially calling for my home resort at 11 mos.

I was going to begin calling today for Boardwalk view studio for our December trip, but my DSis/Mom decided to go to Dollywood with us for their Christmas events instead! (We are lucky, we can go to both, Dollywood in November and WDW in December!)

So, it will just be DH and myself, and we want to stay at VWL, so I'll wait and book the whole vacation at once. I think I'll be OK with that, but if not, we'll change our dates to later in the month (we're flexible at this point) and then I will book day by day.

I don't think there's anything wrong with calling day by day, and I don't think there's anything wrong with being sure you get Standard View if that's what you want. "Pinching points" sounds rather negative to me, stretching points is being smart...you know what you're getting. Some of the preferred view are not really preferred. Our friends once had a good look at the framework of the slide from their boxed in balcony. It was a stay on our "dime" but I am so glad that we didn't have that view as "preferred."

I called day by day once, and it wasn't even for Christmas. It was for a trip at the end of August, but it was super important to me. I wanted a Grand Villa at the Boardwalk for my girl scout troop and there was no way I was going to let 9 little girls down!

I think that's exactly it. it all depends on just how important your plans are to you. If like bobbiwoz, you or your dates are flexible, then it might not matter. If your vacation is a certain week, you need to get another trip in with AP's, your kids can only miss school this particular week, your family/friends are going that week, or about 100 other things that might matter to YOU...well, I would book day by day.

Thank you for all the responses to my thread.

As boardwalker and Nmw have just said it depends how important it is to you.

I will be travelling from the UK and have specific dates over christmas and New year. I guess when it comes to it I will be booking day by day.

What time does MS open - I recall they have changed their times recently?

Also the 11 month window is it exactly the months ie if I wanted 19th December I would ring 19th November or is it down to days?

Thanks

Sory "pinching points" does have a negative conotation. How about your term of stretching points or maximizing your ownership. Didn't mean it be negative.

Funny trend I see with this day by day booking. It seems BWV owners tend to do this a lot based on these posts once again validating my intitial assertion. Makes me glad I don't own BWV.

We haven't been members long enough to know when the delineation of points and different views at BWV occurred. We bought in '03 (250 BWV point) specifically to have a GG for my Mother's 85th birthday in December '04. It wasn't a spur of the moment decision, it was a major purchase and we took Magical Beginnnings so we didn't get '03 points. However, we needed more than 250 points, and actually with standard view we needed close to 500 points for the birthday bash, and I knew that if we didn't get standard view, we would be out of luck because preferred view was beyond the budget at 11 months.

So, yes, I learned about the day by day calling right from Day 1 of my BWV purchase! I learned about it from these boards. I can remember agonizing in the months between the purchase (Sept.) and the time that I could book (January). I worried that even at 11 months the SV 2 bedroom and studio villas that I needed would not be available to me. I spent hours with paper and pencil thinking about well, how many preferred studios I could afford...yes, there were threads here about how in the time it took to make the whole reservations, specific (SV) villas would be gotten by others, because the CM couldn't block out all 5, just do one at a time!

We got the rooms! We even had an extra surprise, more friends could come, and we did get a PV studio (we had added on by then) at 5 months out.

The location and the points cost make it truly "worth it" for the owners who want what they want and can book ahead! I know OKW owners love their resort and the low point associated with them, but I would rather have the SV at BWV for just about the same number of points.

Yay! Just added the final night of our reservations for the BWV 2 bedroom villas that I need for our family gathering next year. Booking day by day is GREAT! I'm so glad the first points we purchased were BWV through the Timeshare Store last year.

They open at 9 am Eastern but I swear that they actually open a few minutes earlier than that. Start calling about 8:55 am.

The 11 month window is from your checkout day. So if the first night of your trip is December 19th, then your checkout is December 20th. You'd call January 20th to make that first day's reservation.

Is Eastern - FLorida time - trying to work out the time difference. We are 5 hours ahead of FLorida?

yes, Florida is Eastern time.

I call day-by-day, as it is a busy time of year, and I want a high-demand room (studio or 1-BR Boardwalk View at BWV, depending on how many points we have left). Never ran in to a problem yet.
