How many of you have booked day by day for a reservation?(11 month window)

Would/ Have you phoned day by day to get christmas reservations?

  • I would phone day by day to get reservations over the christmas period!

  • I would not bother phoning day by day/

  • I have phoned daily in the past to get a reservation.

I'm glad you pointed that out because while you see the "book day by day" as the best advice given here on the Dis, I completely disagree.

There are only a handfull of times/rooms/categories where this is necessary. BWV standard view or BW view would be one example. GV's another. BC at VB another. Christmas another.

People hearing this stuff they will start booking day by day. This drains MS resources and could in the end lead to increased dues.

Calling day by day is not necessary for 90%+ of the booking out there with DVC. To tell people otherwise is simply false.

39 or so trips and I've never called day by day. Was I just lucky? Don't think so. How many times are resorts selling out before 7 months? Unless you fall into one of the above categories it IS NOT necessary.

We wonder why phone lines are tied up at MS.:sad2: A 5 night stay should take one call not 5 and it does for a vast majority of people who don't post here on the Dis. They've never heard of day by day booking and haven't needed it.

I knew you would jump in on this Dumbo! I posted on a thread that someone would bring this up.

So you don't think I have to do a day by day to get a 2br for Easter 2008 at VB?

And yet everytime I've asked MS if it is really necessary to call day by day, they tell me absolutely I should.

Maybe it isn't necessary. Until Disney releases all their info and statistics, we will never really know.

39 Trips and you got your first choice every time never needed to change resorts pick a different view or change a day thats is pretty good I am not that good.

I agree. Stop the day by day madness.

OK you stop it and I bet I get my res before you.

That depends. Do you own VB points? Assuming you do and that you will be booking at 11 months then no you do not need to call day by day. At 7 months during Easter maybe day by day but even then I personally would not. I'd simply go someplace else.

It is fine to book day by day if you so choose but my issue is that many here (and apparently MS) tell people it is necessary. Then we all wonder and gripe about long waits to get through to MS. If we could all agree (I know not going to happen) to stop the day by day madness it would be a kinder, gentler booking process.:)

Just finished booking today for our trip: Nov. 30th. to Dec. 7th.
BWV 1-Bedroom BW view. Got what we wanted.

OKW 1-Bedroom 1-21 to 1-29
BC Studio 5-11 to 5-18
BWV 1-Bedroom 11-30 to 12-7

Of course MS tells you to book day by day it would be job preservation.

Would you say the same about a 2-BR at OKW at the 11 month window for a stay during Christmas week? I wasn't going to call day-by-day, but will if I have to do so for a full week.
Personally, if it were me, yes I'd call day by day.

I look at day by day reserving the same way I look at buying where I want to stay the most. Both actions give me the best chance to vacation when and where I want to. Are they absolutely necessary? Possibly not, but then you could say the same thing about insurance if you never make a claim.

Personally I would rather make one call and be done with the whole thing. I called on 12/23(Sat) to book Thanksgiving 07. I called right a 1pm and was on hold for about 10-15 min. I may have taken up more time because the CM said she could make my ADR's for our May trip. I had tried to call WDW-Dine on my mobile at the same time and they were even busier than MS! All I can say is thank goodness I have speakphone capability. It comes in handy at these times!

As for VB, personally I would rather go right after the boys get out of school. Around June 6, just take off the next day. Same philosophy with HH.

I'm currently booking 2 2 bedroom BWV guaranteed Boardwalk view rooms for Dec 9-11. Three nights done, two to go. It's important to me to get the boardwalk view because this is my husband's family that we're taking with us and most of them haven't been to WDW ever before, or not since a trip in 1974!

That said, we didn't buy our BWV points until early 2006. I made our Dec 7-11, 2006 reservation for a one bedroom Boardwalk view room I think in April of last year. I got exactly what I wanted with one phone call and we had a GREAT room. No smoking, top floor, wonderful view of the fireworks.

We also have an April, 2007 trip planned to VWL. Just a month ago, inside the 7 month window, I had to change our dates for that trip. I had no problem dropping a Friday night and adding a Tuesday/Wednesday night to the reservation to get April 21-26 in a one bedroom.

Is booking day by day necessary at your home resort at 11 months? Probably not for most of the year. But I'm still new at this so I'm not sure. It really is easy enough to do (based on the December 2007 reservation I'm working on this week) so why not? Whatever I can do to have a better shot at a room that is important to me, I will do it. That means booking day by day for December (but probably not for our April trips.)

Well, I hadn't used the day-by-day method before, but today's experience might change that.

I just called for a standard view 2BR for 12/2-9. I had to waitlist for 12/2, 3, 5, 6. :scared:

While there is usually lots of needless hype on the boards, every now and then you're bound to hit on a truth.

So, we're just back from vacation and I already need new pixie dust.

Should I be scared of this DIS Board around the 22nd thru 31st of this month???

What if I want a studio or 1 bedroom at SSR at Christmas 2007, should I call day by day???

Also am I going to have issues booking for June of this year?

You should not have a problem with a studio or 1BR at SSR. Why haven't you booked June?

My paperwork just arrived today!!!!!!!!We are brand new members we just got temporary member cards with the paperwork today. We just committed to DVC last Thursday.

DW and I was reading all this stuff about craziness with ressies, and was wondering if we made the right decision by purchasing DVC. These people are scaring DW that we will never get our vacation times we want.

I am calling each day because I want three BW view studios. I tend to disagree about the job preservation thing - I'm sure they don't have much downtime. MS also suggested that I call each day - said if I only needed one room probably wouldn't be a big deal but because I need three it's better to be safe than sorry.

do you think it would be necessary to do day by day for 2 bedroom standard view at BWV for 12.16-12.21.07?

Never done it (Dont own at BWV) but I would say positivley YES.

Just finished booking 2 Standard View studios day by day for 12/2-12/7.

A couple quick questions.

What time does MS start taking reservations each day?

On the first day you call how much time should I plan on being of the phone with them to book two 2 BR units? I have to decide on making the call from home or in my car.

Thanks.
