I am thinking about bringing a small backpack with us to the parks to carry cameras, water, tickets, etc. How many others do this? And if you do, what do you do with it on the rides?

We have always brought a backpack. We loop it through our feet if we all actually go on a ride.

I have brought a backpack each time we went. It is very convient. You just carry it with you on the rides. There is more then enough room for this. Have fun. ::MickeyMo

We do. My little sister has a back pack on her wheel chair so we load her back pack up.

Depends on the weather for me. If I think I'm going to need a few layers or it's going to rain on and off I bring a backpack. If not I don't. Also bring ziploc bags in the backpack for rain. Great place to store wet ponchos. I have no kids though. If I did, depending on their ages, a backpack may be a necessity.

HI!

I always bring a backpack - I even found a plastic backpack that is great for those wet rides....hehe :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a great time!

We normally carry 2 backpacks between 4 of us to the parks. Am very seriously thinking of going to fanny packs for me and DS8 next trip, but time will tell. I am still weighing the options, weather, belongings, etc.

I also bring a backpack. Each trip though it gets smaller. I am using a mini backpack now but it expands into a duffle if you unzip it. I was proud of myself for not unzipping it. My DD7 brings a very small Cinderella backpack for her autograph book and that's about it. The boys did share a backpack but not on all days. My goal is to be able to go without one but I doubt that will ever happen so the mini backpack is an improvement anyway. Just put it by your feet on the rides. No problem.

I always bring a backpack, too, and have never had a problem with it on rides.

Our next trip will be interesting. We have always had a stroller to carry the backpack. Then last trip, we did not bring a stroller, but MIL had a scooter, so we looped the pack onto the back of her ECV.

The next trip, no stroller, no ECV...which means one of us is going to get stuck lugging the pack all day. I would just do the fanny pack thing, but I like to pack juice boxes and snacks for the kids. (which makes it heavy, add the cans of Diet coke for me and DH...LOL)

I bought a Camelback backpack (the one with the water pouch in it and the straw attached to the shoulder strap). I splurged and bought one with an additional large pocket and it worked great! I brought some pain medicine in a Ziploc bag, my contacts and glasses, rewetting drops, cell phone, and a book (larger than an average size paperback). The book was for when I was waiting in lines when I went off my byself (if you can, bring one, it really helps pass the time). Plus, the water pouch helped me stay hydrated. It was definitely worth it.
As for the rides, I just layed it on the floor and zipped up the head of the straw in the bag so it wouldn't touch the floors. It wasn't too big so I didn't have a problem.

We always bring a backpack.......it fits everything my little family of four needs....I also pack a zip lock bag to protect the camera and my sons inhaler, when we are on the wet rides. It is no problem on rides......and it is easy to switch off with DH when it gets toooooooooo heavy!!! :flower:

Just 1 small (kids size) backpack for the 4 of us, and it'll go around my legs on the rides. Easy way to keep everything in one place (love DH but he has been known to put something down and leave it behind).

I take a backpack too. My tip is to load it with stuff you would take to the park and tote it around the mall or somewhere for a couple of hours to make sure it isn't too heavy. I tested mine at Six Flags and then decided that I really didn't need some of the stuff I was carrying.

We share a bag or backpack, but we don't take it everyday. You can take a backpack on EVERY ride and attraction at WDW.

I do this too.

I always carry in it...
camera, extra film, xtra batteries (in a ziplock)
xtra clothes for my ds (in a ziplock)
autograph book/fat pen
hand wipes
ponchos
mini hairbrush/scrunchie/chapstick/bandaids/tylenol/sunscreen (in a ziplock)
hat for ds
cell phone (in ziplock)

Most are marked with my name and resort info including on the inside of the backpack.

I carry passes, cc, money in a neck pouch that I wear under my shirt.

I like having the backpack and have found its more convienent than not to bring to the parks especially when shopping! :)

We had intended to use fanny packs for our trip last June, but my DH found his to be uncomfortable. He ended up using my youngest son's Incredible Hulk backpack. Came in very handy for water bottles, sunscreen (small) and a cool wash cloth. One of my favorite moments was watching him chat with another dad on the boat dock - the other dad was sporting his daughter's Power Puff Girls pack. As the boys get older we're hoping not to have to carry much.

I have a backpack that I got from a GAP outlet and they have small ones at WalMart that have only one strap. The strap goes crossways across your body and it feels a lot lighter that way. I bring it for the camera, cell phone, sunglasses, water bottle, wallet, sunscreen and I also bring a small bag with "bathroom stuff". It has one big pocket on the outside of it that I put my wallet and camera in and two small ones that I have first aide supplies in and one on the strap itself that I can put my glasses or cell phone in.

I almost always have a backpack. I'm 31 so carrying it around all day isn't a huge issue, I feel like I'm getting some exercise that way to make up for the buffet and eating at LTT, California Grill or about 10 of these :mickeybar

I do, I do!!!

With one small child, it's a necessity. Also, I have one with large mesh bottle holders on either side. I can cram 2 water bottles into each pocket. This way, our water is always accessible and I don't have to carry something separate for that.

Mine is a plain black backpack so that DH and DDad are not opposed to carrying it.

We have not had a problem with it on any rides.

When DS gets older, he will have to carry his own stuff, but at 4 years old, I'd rather not load him down with anything.
