How many of us are from WA state??

Woodland here. On I-5, 20 miles north of Portland, OR. I was born near Disneyland but moved here when I was 5. Love it here, well except for November & February!:thumbsup2

I just found this thread! I live in Bothell. We moved from Northern CA last year, and so far we're loving it. My sill DH just said yesterday that he hopes we get snow like we did last winter :lmao: Easy for him to say, he telecommutes from home, where I have to drive all over hell's half acre to my various placces of work (Woodinville, Bellevue, Factoria AND Fed. Way!)

We haven't been to DL since we moved, but if we did, we'd fly. There's no way I would want to drive that far :) We have been to WDW, and are planning a trip again in january of '08. I have such a hard time dealing with the fact that airfare isn't that much more expensive to fly all the way across the country!

There are a lot of us North of Seattle! I'm surprised. I think it would be fun to have a get together to meet other DIS'ers in the area. Let me know what you think!
I'm off to DL on Sunday but when I come back I'd be happy to help organize something if people are interested.

Hello fellow Washingtonians...

I live in Puyallup, work in Tacoma. Wouldn't live anywhere else, unless it was with in ten minutes of a Disney Park:banana:

Vancouver, WA

We have the best of both worlds...no state tax, and we can drive across the river to OR...no sales tax!!!

DangerMouse -- Have you considered Clark Co? Our real estate went crazy a few years ago but now it's getting more reasonable again. I live on the eastside where there's a lot of new development. I'm sure it's cheaper here than the Seattle area (not sure about some of the other areas you are considering).

Isn't that crazy? That's why we've gone to WDW the last several years! My kids keep begging me to go to DL for a change so that's where we'll go next. But in all honesty, it will probably cost us more than a week in FL...they don't have near as many discounts on rooms/packages and we usually combine a visit with a few days in San Diego which means purchasing those one-day tickets that usually cost an arm and a leg. Oh well -- at least I'll get my Monte Cristo @ the Blue Bayou!!!

You know, the tickets don't expire for 13 days after the first day, so you COULD get a multi-day for that sort of trip...

Or do what we did, and get a Deluxe. We spent 6 days at parks on this trip, and even if we just take ONE more trip (even just one day) to visit my brother in San Diego, the Deluxe will have earned itself (plus the food discounts).

It's cost more to fly locally for years and years! My mom moved x-country (from CA to FL and then VA) the week after I moved to Tacoma for college, so I've been watching the crazy "how do they pay for the airplane gas?" fares for 2 decades now...

More than likely we will purchase the So. CA City Pass from Costco. But we aren't going until next year sometime...so hopefully they will still be available.

That's a good idea, too!

FWIW, I've seen those for sale at costco since before our first trip to DL back in Sept of '05.

I'm a Kennewickian!!!!!! I graduated from Pasco High and the University of Washington (the pinnacle of all that is good, pure, and beautiful)--my spouse and I have lived in the beautiful state of Washington all our lives. We have a beautiful daughter who is graduating from Kamiakin this June and heading to the good ole U of Dub in the fall.

Go Bulldogs!
Go Braves!
Go Huskies!

Aww...good ole Vancouver. I've got some history in that town. :)

DH and I were married there in "72" :hippie: and our 2nd son was born in Vancouver Memorial in "80". :cloud9:

My father was buried there in "93" ... and my brother still lives there...out in Orchards.

My neices still make Vancouver their home and our best friends live out in Ridgefield.

My...it really is a small world..isn't it? :)

We are from Whidbey Island, WA. What I tell people is to find the western edge of Washington, go west until you hit the water, then keep going a little more. That's us!

DangerMouse, if you go to Coupeville, stop at the OaK Harbor Library on your way and ask for the Disney nut who works there. I'll say hi.

I see lots of other people on this thread who are in our library district which is cleverly named 'Sno-Isle' for Snohomish & Island Counties. Skagit County has so far voted to go their own way. It would be great to have you come along...I get lots of info about Disney events from the library. Hope you do, too.

This has been an AWESOME thread! :thumbsup2

We're in AZ, but planning on moving to WA State as soon as we can sell our house. We haven't settled on any specific area yet, but are considering Island County, Skagit County (Anacortes & Bow), Kitsap County (Kingston, Pouslbo, Indianola) and Jefferson County (Sequim). My dad lives in Coupeville on Whidbey. I am already prepared to grow webbed feet. I'm excited to hydrate my dried out, parched AZ body.

It's been interesting to hear your thoughts on weather, traffic, city vs. rural life, etc. We're looking to be in a more rural area but need to be close enough to get into the city without traveling too terribly far. We also really want to be near the water.

Do most of you fly to DLR? I can't imagine doing that drive. I'm afraid our Disney trips will dramatically decrease once we are in the Pacific Northwest. :sad1:

Hello DangerMouse,

We live in Kitsap County (Port Orchard). We are a 1/2 hour ferry ride to Seattle (20 minutes if it doesn't stop at Vashon Island) and a 30 minute drive to Tacoma. We moved here 20 years ago from Seattle where DH and I were both born and raised. I thought I'd hate it, but I would have a hard time moving back to Seattle now. I feel like we're close enough to things without dealing with lots of headaches like traffic. Port Orchard has really developed in the 20 years since we've been here and our neighboring town of Gig Harbor is taking off with growth, too.

We fly to Disneyland. On a good traffic day the airport is 45 minutes away.

I'm amazed that this many people live in Washington and there aren't more of us from Seattle! I live and work all within a 2 mile radius right near downtown.

Oh, and hi - this is my very first post here. :) We're leaving 11.27 - yay!

Welcome FlameGirl! :welcome:

We'll be in DLR the same time as you! I love downtown Seattle. I worked at the corner of 3rd and Marion for a couple years in my early 20's. It's a great city!

We're out in Eastern Washington in Pullman (just over an hour south of Spokane). Since moving to Wa from Ca we always fly to DL or WDW. PDX is usually the way we go due to cost rather than Spokane.

To a few previous posters...I'm at WSU finishing my Masters in Teaching
