How many nights can be reserved at one time? I think I read it was 7? Is the same policy at 11 months and 7 months?

What is the strategy for adding on nights past that point?

What is "pushing a reservation"? I heard this referred to in a thread and I didn't understand what was being said.

We are not members yet but we are about ready to put in our resale offer and I am just trying to go over things and make sure I understand as much about how things work as possible.

11 months ahead, members may reserve up to 7 nights at their Home Resort. Once you are within 11 months you may reserve as many nights as you have points for - again with the 7 night limit 11 months ahead.

At 7 months, members may reserve as many nights as they are able based on their available points.

The real limitation is that you cannot reserve more than 11 months ahead (considering the 11 month/7 night limit). Once you make the original 7 night reservation, you can call back daily to add more days or just call back about 6 days later to add up to an additional 6 days to the existing reservation already made.

"Walking" a reservation is where you would make a reservation 11 months ahead, plus a week or more before you actually intend to stay and then cancelling days from the start of that reservation while adding additional days at the end of the original stay until you have the reservation you really want. Unless your reservation is for a hard-to-get room type (AKV Concierge, BWV GV, etc.) the 11 month priority is usually sufficient without the additional hassle of "walking" a reservation.

If you were calling today, you could reserve 14 nights at your Home Resort for a stay arriving September 16, 2012.

We booked our May-June vacation 11 months out. we were staying 10 nights so what we had to do is call the day at 11 months. We requested 7 nights, then we had to call back each day (until we had all 10 nights reserved) and add another night to the reservation so that we could get all our nights consecutively and not have to change rooms or resorts. Hope this helps you. :cool1:

Just an FYI--you didn't need to call each day--you could have just called the day before the original check out date and would have been able to add all 3 nights at once.

Since you would be adding them before anyone else could have reserved your room, there would be no risk of you losing the room.

For example, if someone calls and books the 1st to the 8th on the 11 month window, as long as they call to add nights by the 7th, they are guaranteed those extra nights.

Actually as Doc mentioned, you really only had to call back one time, 3 days later to be guaranteed the days 8, 9 and 10 of your reservation.

As someone once explained, Conceptually, if you book 7 vacation days at the exact 11 month window, they are "assigned" to a virtual room, say room 101.
If another member calls the next day and books 7 days (which would be your vacation days 2-8) they cannot be booked into room 101 because you are already in it on days 2-7. They might get room 102, but not yours.
5 days later, someone could call to book "your" days 5-12, but they still could not get your room 101, because you have days 5-7 booked. Basically, you have at least 6 days where you are guaranteed that you can extend your reservation, whether that extension is 1 or 6 days is up to you

I called yesterday and reserved 8 nights at BLT with no problem.

Thank you soo much. We had the question about at the 7 month mark and I was thinking we would limited to the 7 day reservation.
