How many loads of laundry in a typical 1 week timeshare visit?

Prompted by many prior discussions about unit size (studio vs anything else) ... I wonder: How many loads of laundry do you typically run during a 7-night stay at any timeshare (DVC or otherwise)?

Given the water crisis at home, we will often tote dirty laundry with us on the drive-to destinations and run the loads while at the timeshare. If flying, we will run at least 2 loads ... one ~3rd day and one just before we leave so that we bring home only clean clothes. I'd say this averages to about 4 loads a week across our 'drive to' and 'fly to' locations. An absolute minimum, regardless of the length of stay would be one load so that we only pack clean clothes for home.

FWIW, I don't consider doing laundry in the unit (1BR or bigger) to be a chore. I toss the clothes into the wash in the morning and then either move them to the dryer or to hang-dry when returning to the unit later in the day. Easy, breezy, in my book. But doing laundry from a studio: UGH. Babysitting units that are "down the hall" crosses the line, for me. Gotta have that in-room laundry unit!

I answered "other" as I don't typically (want to) do laundry on vacation but I have been known to make a rare exception. We use studios - I HAVE done 1 or 2 quick loads when in studios - but I would say only about 3 times tops out of like 14 or so trips. They are not the normal for me. Usually it would be because there was a reason such as a specific spill or stain on something that I didn't want to let sit until we got home. If I'm going to wash 1 thing then I'm going to wash a whole load. But that doesn't mean I'm washing EVERYTHING. It means I'm doing as much as what fits in 1 load. The ONE TIME we had a 1 bedroom at SSR I think I did 2, maybe 3 loads throughout the entire 9 nights we were there....just because it was there and I could. Seemed silly not to take advantage of the w/d being right there on the 1 rare occassion that we were in a 1 bedroom.

We do a load almost daily, with the exception of the first day. We wash towels regularly. We only pack a small amount of undies/socks and sleepwear. We generally throw a load in before leaving in the AM and dry it upon return. Light colors one day, dark colors the next. We love having laundry in the room!

We have OL so we wash the clothes that are going back into the OL plus whatever is dirty. Since we are a family of 3 and reuse shorts it's usually 2 loads - darks and lights. I might consider 3 loads but the dryers are hit and miss on their capacity to dry so I plan for multiple drying cycles.

I love going home and unpacking with clean clothing vs having to do laundry again! Also with how things stay wet in Florida it is nice to keep everything fresh! We do not find it hard at all! Toss it in and go when someone comes back to the room stitch it over! Plus staying in DVC I like clean towels everyday!!

We stay in 2 bedroom villa with our family of 4. We pack super light and do at least one load of laundry per day in the villa. I say we do laundry, but it is actually me I also find laundry super easy to do at Disney in our DVC villa. Throw a load in before we leave in the morning, and put it in the dryer when we come back for an afternoon rest. By doing laundry during the week, we always have clean clothes during our vacation and no piles of laundry to do when we get home.

My view totally changes if it is just DH and I in a studio. I hate, hate, hate having to do laundry while staying in a studio. I will pack extra clothes for a studio stay just so I don't have to face the shared laundry room.

I voted 10+. We usually stay in a 2 bedroom as a party of 8. We usually run at least one load of towels a day. We often times run swimwear after swimming (at least through the washing machine). The washing machines are pretty small so usually we have at least 1 to 2 loads of darks a day and a load of whites at least every other day. Plus, we usually try to wash all of our clothes before going home. I think for our last 2 week trip we did around 30 or 35 loads.

It can depend on which resort and which size villa. OKW one or two bedroom villa? Full sized washer and dryer so fewer loads. Other resorts, stackable units that are smaller, so more loads. Studio? As few as possible.

Good point -- those stacked units do run a much, much smaller load. As for the poll, go for a swag. I was thinking of the smaller "stacked units" found in most timeshare unit ... but, indeed, have enjoyed the full size units on rare occasion. I didn't know that OKW still offered full size washers. Thanks for that lead!

I think it depends on how many children you are travelling with and what their ages are. Since joining DVC my kids were already out of the baby/toddler stage. I do one load mid week. Possibly two maybe a dark colour load and a light colour load.

The stacked units have a very small capacity compared to the typical washer at home. Last weekend I brought a single, heavy, bag of dirty laundry with me to a drive-to timeshare. Over a 4 night stay we ran 6 loads and considered running a 7th ... this would have taken only 2 loads at home: a single load of whites/lights; and a single load of colors.

We stay in a studio 2 adults so 2 trips to the laundry room per week. We stay 2 weeks. We come from the UK and bring one weeks worth of clothes then wash them. But sometimes it can be more. Depends if it has been raining real hard and how much pasta sauce I have had lol..

I realized that much but I just can't fathom spending that much time doing laundry on my vacation. 35 loads is ALOT. That's crazy. Of course we also (thankfully) don't have 8 in our family!

I do like 2-3 small loads a day at home so we do 1 load a day on vacation if we have a washer/dryer in the room. I would not do anything if I had to go to an actual hotel laundry room.

I just don't like dirty laundry and if my kids spill on their clothes I don't like to let it sit for days.
