HI everyone.
Ok quick question. I'm following the ww plan mostly. How much weight is safe to lose a week. I know that at the start you lose more but on average how much a week?
I've followed it before for 3 weeks but just got sick of paying for someone to weigh me when i could do it for free somewhere else. Anyway i'm at 152 and am aiming for 126 hopefully in time for christmas. That's 2lbs a week. Am i being realistic or is that too much. Really appreciate any advice. Thank you.

WEll I know for myself I have lost close to 1 lb a day and it was safe(Of course the GBs helped) and now I am slowing down a bit and will lose 2-3 a week the more I work out and stuff.
I'm happy losing inches instead of lbs too!

I follow WW on my own and I believe that I read somewhere in their literature that after the first 2-3 weeks on program (where you tend to lose more right off the bat) it is safe to lose 1-2 pounds a week, anything more is not healthy. I also believe I read that it isn't uncommon for folks to only lose 1/2 pound a week with 2 pounds being the recommended maximum.

The first few weeks on WW I lost about 5 pounds each week. Most of that was probably water. It has now slowed down, but I was losing about 2 pounds per week. At one point they told me to increase my points because I was losing too fast....but this summer I have only lost about 5 pounds over almost 2 months so I am ok (according to their schedule, according to mine, it is too slow) I think 2-3 pounds per week is ok and if some weeks you lose more....well good!

Tigger lover is correct, 1-2 pounds is a safe amount. You will vary after your first initial loss.

You may loose nothing some weeks and loose over two pounds others. It really varies. My weeks really vary, but are usually 1-2 pounds, but I had a .2 loss the other week. It's good to have the goal, but don't give up or get frustrated if your body wants to slow down. If you keep at it, you will get there even if it's not by the date you choose. Remember that this is a heatlhy lifestyle change and you plan on keeping it forever. So if you go over your target date that is ok! Just keep plugging away!

Good luck, you can do it!

Yep, 2 pounds is about it. Men tend to lose more a little more than that per week.

Years ago I took Phen/Fen and dropped 50 pounds in 3 months. Because of the rapid loss, I developed gallstones and will never try to crash off weight again. This time (the final time) it's slow and steady for me.

Health professionals recommend that you do not lose more than 1-2lbs per week. It is not good for your body to lose excessive amounts of weight every week, obviously it is ok for an odd week or two. I know that it can get frustrating when like me you have a lot of weight to lose, but as the old saying goes slow and steady wins the race!!
