just curious how many of you have had to split a stay across seperate resorts or even different room categories because they don’t have availabity for all your dates? I’ve had to a few times.

I just returned from a 10 day trip. 8 at POR pool view and 2 at POP standard. I got a way better deal on airfare leaving 2 days later. POR was unavailable with the military discount for our additional 2 nights and sports was the only value. So for only a few dollars more a night I booked POP with the summer discount instead. I wanted queen beds and wanted to try the new POP rooms anyway. We liked them a lot, but for 4 of us....it was too small. 2 nights we were OK, but no way I could have done 10 days there with myself and 3 teens!

regards

This happened to us this past January. We were staying at ASM and needed 1 more night and we ended up at CBR for our last night. Apparently runners booked everything up.

In January we did our first spilt stay of 3 days at BC and 3 days at YC. We were able to get room only promo on both, but could not get it for 6 days at one of the resorts.

In dec I have two nights at ASMo followed by 7 at POP. First two days fall within POP warner (don’t worry I’m not going to the park those days) and there was nothing available at POP so I added on at movies. Now that I read a little more about movies I’m actually really excited to check out the resort.

Starting this coming Saturday, we have one night SSR, one night AKL, followed by 4 nights at the Poly. That’s what happens when 4 days is not enough. LOL. The cool thing is that when we have a single night booked at the start of our stay, we make that be a deluxe dining extravaganza. Since the meal credits are good until midnight of check out day, we end up with 3 table service meals for two days + the refillable mug that we would never actually choose to buy.

We own DVC and it's almost a given that we will do a split stay. I currently hold two reservations in April for 4 nights at BWV followed by 2 nights AKV CL. I love AKV CL but I didn't have enough points for more nights and BWV will actually be better for the F&G Festival anyway.

It's not unusual for us to save on points by booking a smaller villa or hotel room for one night for arrival day and then transfer to another villa and/or resort for the remainder.

This always happens to us, we love BW but can never get a full week. Every time we are there we always say next time we are just staying BW, then I go to book and remember why that never happens. At least we get to try a bunch of different resorts...

I saved about $200 on flights leaving a day later than planned but Poly was full that night. I booked a night at AoA for the same price as what we saved.

This is amazing, it will totally work for us. Arrival day is a single night at FW with Ohana for dinner then CG Brunch the following afternoon!

I am at Music in Sept and looking forward to hopefully getting a refurbed room to compare to POP! I have always liked Music and Movies anyway. I only have a short three night stay and fortunately do not need to split!

That’s a good idea!

We have a March 2019 reservation at WL but will have to stay at another resort the first night because there isn't any availability for the first night.

Unless we intentionally do it (which really only happens if we do a DCL cruise in between two WDW stays) I don't book if I have to split stay. I did think about it last year for a December stay since nothing was available for more than 4 days of a potential 7 day stay. I decided not to go rather than do it. It was pretty much last minute when we started thinking about it so I wasn't completely committed to going nor was I especially surprised at the lack of availability. It's just not that relaxing to me to have to pack up midway through a vacation unless I'm actually travelling to a different place and even then I'm not totally thrilled about that (despite the fact that my next planned trip to Italy has no more than 3-4 days per place and 6 cities in total - not looking forward to that part of it). That's why I like cruising - my hotel moves me instead of me moving hotels. Unfortunately, although Disney has done a good job creating a little Disney bubble/microcosm on their ships, they still can't fit ToT, RnR, EE, or any number of other attractions onboard their ships. Just means I have to exercise early and good planning on my part to get the resort I want for the days I want.
