How many have this problem with the resorts?

We started planning our October vacation and settled on POR as our resort of choice. Previously we have stayed in Poly and ASMu. The AS's won't work for us so we figured we would try to save some $$ and stay at POR.

My parents have decided to come with us on this trip. They don't vacation often...OK ever. So we started to think about where to stay at POR, you know for best view and convenience.

Then I get a great deal at AKL..$34 a night more for the standard room. Nicer views, the lodge is awsome and they can view the animals, if not from their room from somewhere on grounds. Nice for their only trip to WDW.

Now mom asks, "Will we be able to see animals from our room?"

Looks like I might try to get Savanah.

WOW, We really would like to go on the Sunrise Safari.

OK, that's a concierge perk that's a $150.00 a night difference. I don't think so.

Back to the old paper and pencil to refigure the budget.

ok? so what problem are having with the resorts? i don't get it?!?

just a bit of sarcasm...very poorly expressed I guess, I must be tired.

It seems that I get all set to make ressies and then I start to "over think" my plans and I end up speding more and more and more.

The resorts offer so much that I find myself saying...but for a few dollars more I can... or for just this much more I can...

I do that all of the time. I'm able to rationalize pretty much anything if I work hard enough. :)

Usually what I do is rationalize myself out of a deluxe by saying if I stay at a moderate I can afford another trip. Works for me.

LOL! I understand. :D
We have one day in WDW booked before a cruise. When I originally got the plan to leave for the cruise a day early we wanted to just go cheap. We booked Pop Century. After staying at the Polynesian for 1 night in September, I remembered how much I loved it and thought about changing to there. My thinking was how often do DH & I get to go away alone(um.....never;) ),so this is special trip for us. Then once I heard about PC not opening I thought that was the sign to go for the Poly. I waited to see what I was offered for PC, but I really had my heart set on the Poly. Had I not joined the Disney Club our room rate would have gone from 109.89 to 374.something. Its not quite so bad now, but its close. I know it will be so worth it once we are there though. :D
Good luck to you!

I can relate to the over planning bit...I practically have to sneak to the computer to get to these boards because my sons think I've gone over the edge...I have to say tho planning this trip has been a blast...and we've upgraded to YC from CBR for the 2nd half of our vacation....this is adding up but you do get caught up in it...now all i'm focused on is why didn't i book the whole thing at the YC!!!

I so love it that I'm not the only "Disney planning freak" out there (a moniker coined by my family). I've recently gone from:

1. Cheap, cheap unbudgeted extra trip to WDW in June due to new room discount and upcoming expiration of AP. Book at CSR for 4 nights ($418).

to

2. Switch to AKL standard view (only a little more money), and, what the heck, we're already paying for the airfare, make it 5 nights ($771).

to

3. Hmm - savannah view sounds better. Upgrade. ($1138)

to

4. This resort switching that I'm reading about on the disboards sounds cool, since we have only stayed at the Poly and are dying to experience the other options. But 5 nights is too short to do this. Change to 3 nights CSR and 3 nights AKL ($947)

to

5. Hey - that's less than my 5 night plan - so I can completely justify concierge at AKL! Make it 4 nights at CSR and 2 at AKL ($1148)

What must the poor CRO agents think of me!?

happydays, What do the CRO CM's think of you? You went from $418 to $1148...They LOVE you!!!

Happydays: Very amusing - your vacation will be wonderful and your family will appreciate all your planning! Have fun...

Jdads2: The DIS boards make planning fun, but hearing all the great plans everyone else has just makes you want to add/spend more and more... Enjoy!
