I'm curious. I've been a WW member for years. A series of events lead to a big gain for me and I've gone back "on program" and have lost almost 11 pounds in about 5 weeks. I find that, for me,WW is a great choice. Also I think it might be even easier for men because (sorry ladies) we usually can work with a higher point total and still lose weight, coupled with the freedom and flexibility the plan provides. I know a lot of guys don't like the idea of meetings - guess what neither do I and I don't go. I use the on-line tools and am very honest with myself about how much I eat. I know, I sound like a WW commercial (I do not have a financial arrangement with them except for the $15.95 I pay every month for the on-line service ) So - am I alone? Are there many other guys out there on WW?

I have not ever used WW, but maybe I should look into it. I had very good success with "body for life" last year.. Lost 60 lbs in 6 months, felt GREAT, was loving it, then, well, got lazy, stopped exercising and started not eating as clean as I should have been.. (although my eating habits are MUCH better then they were the start of 2011 when I started). So my issue isnt so much doing the work, but keeping up with the work :D. What do you like about WW? Had you tried other programs before and what didnt you like there? What kind of workout schedule do you have?

I started in April and have been very happy with it. Between WW and training for a half-marathon, I am down 40 pounds. WW seems very easy to me, the apps for the iPhone are great too.

I know I sounded almost like a WW shill in my post - and I may even sound a bit more like that now. What do like about it? It's not a "diet". it's not something you do to lose weight, going back to your old habits when you're done. It's an approach to how you eat. As an example - once you are at goal weight the progrm gives you specific steps to follow in order to maintain - and most imprtantly they are realistic steps. Now I'll be honest - like most people who have trouble controlling their weight I go up and down. But WW has tought me how to think about food and eating in a heatlhy, moderated way, and when I do gain weight I know exactly why and I know that WW will provide the tools that will allow me to get back on track.

As to what I've tried - I tried Jenny Craig and Atkins. As to JC, I don't like eating all the pre-packaged foods. We're pretty healthy eaters in my house, we eat a lot of fresh fruit, etc and I found that eating all of the pre-packaged stuff did not agree with me. As to Atkins - I know some folks like it but I thought it was awful. I was on for about 3 week, lost 2 pounds the first week and nothing after, but more importantly I felt awful. Try WW - works for me (of course I assume it won't work for some folks but I think their straightforward, no nonsense approach will work for most).

Thanks for the reply! It really sounds like a lot of them, where they are trying to teach portion control. I'll sound like a body for life promo :).. Who wouldnt like eating 6 meals a day and only requiring 30 minutes 3 days a week, 45-1 hours 3 days a week in exercise. And one day off from exercising and you can eat whatever you want. It works well, teaches you how to eat properly and get the most out of your workouts. But in the end it's all about the person doing the program :) and sometimes they just dont do what they are supposed to :wave2:
