How many free passes do CM's get?

Does anyone know how many people a cm can get into a park at one time? Do the cm's have a certain amount of tickets per year or can they bring in a family in the am with them?

We have tickets but the family coming with us do not. There are 2 adults and 4 young children. A friend of ours has a daughter working in the Magic kingdom and we wonder if it's worth asking for the favor but not if it will use up her year's quota. Thanks for any help

If is just her and she has no dependents than she will only get 4 comp. tickets a year. Two in the summer and two in the winter. But she may have some saved from the past. It doesn't hurt to ask.:)

If she is a regular CM (either full or part time) and not on salary she will have 16 days where she may escort up to three Guests into the park. If she is College Program or Seasonal the number is eight days with up to three Guests. If salaried or more than 15 years employment there is no limit as to number of days, but again the normal limit is three Guests.

Also, unless the Guests are related, the CM is supposed to remain with the Guests while they are in the parks.

What about CM's who were full time and have retired from Disney?

Also, don't CM's receive comp passes at different times of the year that can be used at their discrection?

Just another point of view..........

My DD is a CM. You would not believe the amount of people that contact her to get in free. She doesn't mind when it's family but people she hasn't talked to in YEARS, friends of friends, neighbors of friends, school teachers that didn't give her the time of day in school, ...the list goes on and on and on.... makes her crazy! It makes me crazy too.

If you are a true friend or a relative....go ahead and ask. They will tell you if it's possible and will love having you visit. But if not, don't put the CM in an uncomfortable place by having/needing/wanting to say no.

Why would anyone ask someone to get in free anyway?
Why don't they buy their own tickets?

Unless the CM has been a long-time employee, it's a pretty big favor. And since this CM has never even met your travelling companions, I think it's way too much to ask.

It was nice of you to try to help your friends, though. :)

If they were for you I'd say it's worth asking, but for the other family? That's a little much. Think of it as if you were the daughter. Would you want to give tickets that you only get a few of to friends of friends? Probably not.

I have a very dear friend who works for Disney -- salaried position. He was one of two couples that we had stand for us at our wedding. Despite that I never ask him for free tickets. I know how frustrating it is for him having people ask him for free stuff all of the time.

OP I think it is a bit inappropriate to ask your friend's daughter for free tickets. Just my opinion.

Hmmm... I've been a CM for three years and I don't get nearly as many people asking me to get in free. I mean, there's really no one in my family that enjoys the parks so I really only end up helping my fiancee when his family comes down (and that's if he can't help them himself since he's a CM too). I, personally, am happy to help anyone of my friends that ask me about it as long as I am available to help (ie. not already working). Maybe it's because I'm local that anyone I know has other CM friends they ask for admission... Lol that doesn't really help, but I saw this and it got me thinking.

Thanks for all the interesting replies. Good info from MonorailpilotMulan. The other family knows the CM too (but I'm the one on Dis) and I really think she would love to help them out, I was just wondering how many passes she gets, she is full time, but only has been about a year. Since her parents go down yearly we wouldn't want to ask if there aren't enough.

Interesting post about why we would even try to ask. If I worked at WDW and my mom asked if I could get the family in (which I know), I'd help if I was able.

I think it wouldn't hurt to ask. She can say no if she wants to.
One year we were waiting in the ticket line and saw a young girl offering to take people in line in for free. Everyone was looking at her as if she had two heads lol. My tight-wad b-i-l, when she got to us, told her that we would LOVE to! She explained to us she had three CM passes that were about to expire. She took us through the turnstyle, told us to have a great day, and off she went. Saved us close to $200. Was she supposed to? I dunno; we didn't ask. B-i-l tried to give her some $$$ but she wouldn't take it, said she didn't want the passes to go to waste and wanted to make someone else smile.
Like I said, it doesn't hurt to ask.
To the poster who said, "Why would you ask?"...duh.

Just wondering if you want to be friends with me because I am going in October .. KIDDING!! :lmao:

mike the canuck - I was a Disney Store CM and we received two base passes two times a year and they do expire.

This information may have changed in the last couple of years.

The number of "passes" a CM gets depends on whether they are full or part time, or seasonal--as well as how long they've been with the company. Their passes also have block out dates, too--usually around the major holidays. They can admit up to 3 guests per day and can only do it once a day. For example, if a CM admits 2 guests in the morning, then goes back to admit a 3rd guest later, they can't do that. At least, that's what happened once to us. That could have changed, as it was a few years ago.

As for the ethics of asking extended relations who are CMs for passes, it's all up to the CM. My sister-in-law's brother has been a CM for over 25 years and while he is more than willing to admit his niece and nephew, he bemoans any favors to me or my brother's side of the family--even if we want to go with my niece and nephew. Never mind that he has reached the level in the company that grants him unlimited admissions for his guests.

I've almost never had to pay to get into Disney because I have close friends or family who work there. Without them I could never afford to go. Only, they are the ones who invite me; rarely do I directly ask them to go and that's usually only for a special occasion.

It depends on the type of CM and where they work.

When my wife was a disney store CM, she got 2 passes twice a year.

After she was made a full time manager of a Disney store, she and I both got something called a "Silver Pass"

I forget all of the particulars, but I think that we could use them to take ourselves, and up to 4 more people, in at a time, 12 times a year. There were no blackout dates..

If you are looking for comp-tickets, we used to get a couple a year. The rule with maingate passes is that she would need to stay with you after getting you in. Depending on the mood of the company at the time, the rule is sometimes strictly enforced. "Misuse" could get her in big trouble.
