I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't seem to find the thread. On the 7 day cruise, how many nights are formal...how many are semi formal and how many are casual?

I'm already formulating the family's wardrobe in my head and we still have 5 months to go!

Thanks,

Deb

On the Western C cruise, Monday night is the formal Captain's Gala and Thursday night is the semi-formal night. On our cruise, the formal was not drop-dead glitzy formal (like prom) but just long dress formal. Some men/guys had on tuxes, some suits, some sport coats, shirt & tie. There is also a Mexicalifragilistic (sure I didn't spell that right) night where you are supposed to dress native. I took a sort of wild floral dress but ended up wearing one I found in a tourist shop in Grand Cayman.

Don't stress over the clothing - other than shorts & jeans, almost anything goes!

Tina, the formal wear on women and young women ranges from dessy pantsuits to ball gowns. A dressy long dress on a teen is perfect.

Enjoy! :)

We have sailed DCL 6 times, 3 of them 7-day with the formal nights. We have two teens daughter's 18 and 14 and each cruise they look forward to dressing up on formal nights. On formal nights they each take their current Prom/Homecoming long gowns to wear and on semi-formal night they wear a cocktail length dress.

Any formal dress they can wear more than once is a an added bonus in my book!!!! I saw the vast majority of teen girls dressing very nicely.

On the other nights they wore capri's or skirts to dinner and on Tropical/Mexicali night they wore tropical wear. We found the PLA rotation on the Eastern cruise and the APL rotation on the Western cruise to be the best for us. We were in Lumiere's for both formal nights and in Parrot Cay for the Tropical night.

Hope this helps.

My DD will be 13 when we sail next summer and is already telling her dad she is wearing a formal gown for formal night. In fact she is already discussing this gown with me. Knows just the pattern and fabric. And she is right it will look gorgeous on her - grown up, but gorgeous!
