Two trips per year for us...

One trip in early summer just after school gets out, staying 7-9 days. Next year we're going add a couple of days at either HH or VB. Then, every year we do another 5 days at Thanksgiving... The weather is great for doing the parks, and we love the decorations at our home resorts VWL and BWV!

Going once a year is definitely our limit right now. We started with about 9 nights the first two years and then did 13 last year. This year's is for 11 nights. We've taken family for 3 out of our 4 trips since becoming DVC members (counting our upcoming trip). It helps that we go mostly in Sept./Oct. when our points go farther for us.

We went twice this year for a total of 11 nights. We have already decided we will go for a longer period of time next year and we will go at least twice. If DS goes to college in FL we will be there a lot more than twice a year. Maybe I can even convince DH that we need more points then!!!! Annmarie

For now we go 2x for 6 nights each. We usually go to OKW during Feb...and VB in the summer.

Doc, great poll.

Wasn't sure how to count the trips. If you for example go to HH and then from there go to WDW, is that one trip or two?

What if you travel to Florida and go to WDW, then go somewhere else in Florida for a month, then finish up with another WDW stop before going home. Is that one trip or two?

What if you spend 5 days at OKW, then spend the weekend somewhere off site (say in Tampa with relatives), then go to bWV for 5 days. One trip or 2?.

We average about 20-25 nights a year at a DVC resort and depending on how you count them, anywhere from 3 to 6 trips.

Right now we usually go once a year in May for anywhere from 7 to 14 days. So I voted once a year - 6 to 10 days. We have gone twice a couple of years. We just did a third add-on and plan on going twice a year in the near future, probably 2 weeks in May and 1 week the first part of December.

Since we have small kids, with the oldest just starting Kindergarten we have to go with the school calender. A typical use year will probably look something like this -

Christmas break - 3 nights
spring or summer break - 5 nights
baseball spring training @ WDW & VB (just hubby & his freinds) - 4 nights
VB in summer (with just my mom & my girls) - 4 nights
So...
Looks like 16 nights split into 4 trips!

We only had 150 points, just added on 50 more so I'm all about strecthing points. Most years we will stay in a studio until I guess I can talk hubby into more points?!? Right... Plus, we will most always stay at an offsite hotel the first night, possibly even the last night.

Of course, this coming use year I'll have 50 extra banked points from our add on so I think I'll try for a one bedroom instead for VB.

We are taking 3 trips this year--2 for 5 nights and 1 was supposed to be 4 nights WDW and 3 night cruise but we had to come home early due to a death in the family. I like going 3 times per year although some years we may only be able to fit 2 trips in.

Sorry, Doc - I screwed up my vote... I thought you were wanting the number of trips and number of nights PER TRIP.

I voted 3 or more trips, 1-5 nights - it would probably be like 3 or more trips, 7-10 nights per year...

Ugh! I just realized I didn't do the poll right either. Sorry! I voted we do two trips/6-10 nights - However I meant we did the 6-10 nights PER TRIP. So I should have voted two trips/11 or more nights per year.

This is what we have done in the last 2 years, March 2002 6 nights Old Key West.
August 2002, 5 nights Beach club Villas and 3 at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
May 2003, 5 nights Beach Club Villas and 2 at Aimal Kingdom Lodge.
August 2003, 3 nights Boardwalk Villas and 2 Animal Kingdom Lodge.
We will be going December 2003, Boardwalk Villas for 4 nights and Animal Kingdom Lodge for 2.

In 2004 we are only going in May to use our AP,s again. and thats it. Well maybe for the twins Birthday in August. and well wait.....I did want to go for halloween..... Maybe 2005 we will go once.

Sorry doc, I voted wrong. I voted 3 trips 6-10 nights. I didn't read it right before I voted, I meant three trips, we stay 6 to 10 nights each trip. So I messed up.

Although we have not been members for a super long time, our current routine is four days at Vero, followed by eight at VWL. We do this twice a year.
We have been, and will be mixing in some Poly and AKL nights.
I also hope to increase to three times per year, but I must convince my wife to fly first!

Normally, we plan 2 trips at a week to 10 days a piece. This year, however, it will be 3 trips. One 5 night, one 9 night, and another 7 night stay. The 7 night stay will be with 3 rooms to include 11 members of my family. AHH, the beauty of DVC.

I chose 2 trips with 11+ days, but we actually alternate 2 trips and 3 trips.

But, if we start getting a larger unit, it will probably stay at 2 trips.

An interesting add on to this poll might be how many people are ain or party, or how many of them are not DVC members - that would give an idea of how many extra ticket holders DVC members bring to WDW with them. I know for us, that our kids and grandkids would not be going as often without our membership!

Anyway, my point is DVCers bring more business to WDW than just themselves.

Early May, 6 nights at OKW, 1 bedroom
Early Dec, 6 nights at BWV, 1 bedroom standard

When I originally bought, I was thinking 5 to 6 nights each trip, so 250 points would work. With 6 nights each, I need 269. Now I'm thinking I'd really like 7 nights per trip. The problem is that extra night would be a Friday, so I need about 100 more points! Plus now that a Boardwalk view can be guaranteed....I really need 150 more!
