How many DVC points to LIVE at WDW?

I just got back from Disney...i got there 12/02/12 and returned home 04/17. I am leaving again on november 17th and staying until about the 10th of April. Stay in a one bedroom and i have 2000 points. It's worth every cent

That's the way to do it.
I need to get on my bike and deliver a few more papers to get myself up to enough points to stay even one month under a bush outside a villa.

How often do they make you move rooms for an extended stay?

I know your feeling, we lost our one dog in December. We had another dog at the time who took it hard and while at the the vet someone was giving away pure breed Siberian huskies for free in feb and we adopted one. We didn't want any other dog due to the pain of the loss, but couldn't be happier right now with her. Good luck with your retirement dreams.

2000 points got you from December thru 1/2 of April? Wow. I haven't done the math on your visit but I can barely squeeze 2-3 weeks per year in a 1BR out of just over 400 points. Time of year certainly matters and I'm not doubting you one bit but you must not have any points left over when you're finished.
