How many DVC members do you think there are?

Im going to work my way up to the comma club. After the next purchase ill be at 740 and from there i plan to take a breather lol.

I dont picture myself buying anything resale with restrictions or any more direct than minimum for perks. That kind of limits where else I would want to buy. It would be bwv in a heart beat if it weren't for 2042 expiration.

I would probably add to poly for more points at PIT, but then I mine as well go direct at the cost. This brings me back to more SSR or if this next trip to VGF is a hit then perhaps there.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for pulling this together. One question, though. Are these numbers unique members or unique contracts? If I own three contracts, am I counted once as a member, or three times in the 252K?
That would be hard to tell. Your 3 contracts could be counted as 1 if under the same member number.

I also wonder if they are counting spouses and when kids get added on to the membership.

If I had to guess they are just going based on Membership numbers

Could be? But if I own contracts at three different resorts under one membership number, at which resort in the listed numbers do I show up? If I am counted once in each of the resorts that I own, then there are duplicate members counted in the 252K. Or am I missing something? Not a big deal, but I am just curious about the methodology and, going back to the original question, how many unique memberships are in the program.

Very good point.

1 BR and 2 BR at VGF isn’t too bad to book because most people don’t want to waste all their points on them…

I do waste all my points on them!

Interesting to see the breakdown of size of resort and numbers of users.
True! We booked 1BR VGF for next April and 5 nights is a whopping 230 points (and that’s without weekend nights lol). Luckily there was still 7 month availability because I needed to scrounge up some more points using OTUP and transferring from our other resort.

Yes I think they are going by same resort under same membership counts as one owner, even if separate contracts and more than one individual.

I wonder if the reason DVC includes these updated in annual documents because they have to by timeshare law? Then there might be some official way they are being accounted.

They didn't include it in older ones before VGF was on sale not sure when they added it

Purchasers from DVD receive the latest Multi-Site Public Offering Statement. In the section entitled "Buena Vista Trading Company Disclosure Statement," that booklet provides a list of the number of "Club Members" at each DVC Resort. The most recent one I have seen is from May 2024 and provides a total of 252,705 "Club Members."

That number is actually the addition of the total number of memberships attached to each DVC Resort. The actual total number of memberships with different owners would be less because: (a) any members having two or more memberships (which would occur if someone purchases two contracts with different use year beginning months) would be counted separately for each membership, and (b) likewise, any member owning at two or more resorts would be counted for each different resort that they own even if it is the same membership. But the actual number of "members" is likely higher than the above number because most memberships are owned jointly by more than one member, e.g., married couples.
