How many Disney cruises is too many?

I have a suspicion it has more to do with how frequently you cruise rather than how many cruises overall... maybe I will be able to find out one day! :teeth:

I was suspicious it wasn't worth the cost so cruise #6 was on a different line... aaaand now I am more excited than ever to sail the Wonder again in a couple months. So gold is certainly not enough..!

Very jealous that you can take multiple cruises in one year. We are also avid campers and love Fort Wilderness. We plan one cruise per year and at least three Fort trips. Would love to do a Merry Time cruise, but I just can't give up my week at the Fort during that time, something about the Fort at Christmas. Plus living in Central Fl, we camp when its cool, so that takes out Oct - March for cruising, leaving the most expensive time of year to cruise. Wish I could do at least two cruises, but until I win the Lottery, one per year will have to do.
Oh, and to answer your original question, there can't be too many!

but I can't imagine seeing the Golden Mickeys or eating the Pirate menu ten or twenty times!

Totally agree on this one and that was one thing the wife and I were talking about this weekend but my thought on that is that we can use the times when we don't want to see the same show again to do something else like catch a movie or hit the Aqua Duck a few times. One thing about a DCL cruise is there's no shortage of things to do!

Well the only way we do it is by skipping gifts and not spending money on a bunch of "things" we'll probably never use. We just save our money and spend it on experiences because when you go that's all you can take with you anyway!

Glad to see we aren't the only cruisers that love the Fort!

Very true! So far we aren't bored at all. My take on it is if there is something on the ship you're tired of, skip it and try something new!

The menus, shows and other things are all fine, but I can't imagine seeing the Golden Mickeys or eating the Pirate menu ten or twenty times!
Well, the only show we've grown tired of was Toy Story, thus far. Although we're less enamored with the shows on the Dream & Fantasy, over the shows on the Magic & Wonder. We skipped Toy Story on our cruise last Oct, just because we don't really like it.

Haven't gotten tired of eating in the MDRs for dinner yet, either. So that's 10 Pirate menus we've partaken of, and seen Golden Mickeys 5 times (4 times on the Wonder, once on the Dream).

Yeah I'm a fan of eating in the MDR's to support the service team. I'm looking forward to our 4 day on the Dream so maybe I can sneak in Palo somewhere for the first time.

We've done 46 cruises - all Dcl - we have Alaska this summer with eldest grandson. I think mixing up what you do and see helps with - is this too many DCL cruises? We no longer eat in the MDRs - too much of the same and who wants to sit for so long. I wish Dcl changed up the shows more often - they get stale after the 10th/12th time. We'll rebook when we're in Alaska - one grandkid has never been on a cruise.:love::love:

26 cruises on DCL, with 3 more coming up later this year (and a dummy OBB waiting for the next release of dates). I'm single with no kids and haven't tired of it yet. However, I do tend to look for different ports and longer itineraries (like transatlantic and panama canal or the European itineraries). The only time I cruise a traditional Caribbean or Bahamas itinerary is if I'm looking to get out of the New England cold weather and there's nothing else going on.

I don't get that bored with the MDR menus, except for the couple of occasions in which I sailed B2B 4-5 night cruises and I tend to book Palo when the pirate night menu is in place. On the longer cruises, I'll look for something different like on one of my Panama Canal sailings, they turned the Beach Blanket Buffet area into a buffet of Indian food so I skipped the MDR to have that instead.

Longer itineraries are also more likely to have new-to-me entertainers or at least performers and shows I don't get to see often. I love Once Upon a Song and when there's a crew talent show.

We have done 3 and are kind of over it. We have done 1 on the Dream and 2 on the Fantasy. We have another one on the Dream booked but we are probably going to move it further out when the new dates get released.

I think we will stick with DCl for the 3 and 4 night cruises. For longer cruises I think we will go back to RCCL or Celebrity. The lack of dining options just doesn't work for us on the longer cruises. We are tired of the MDR menu and didn't love Palo's new menu.

We've done 33 on DCL with 2 more currently booked, but 50 across all lines with 3 more NCL booked. We still do a couple DCL a year and have done the longer ones like PC, Med, Alaska, Hawaii etc with them but have branched out. DH and I prefer longer cruises and new itineraries so had to expand our horizons. Did get kind of sick of the DCL shows and food since they don't change much. Happened to be in Miami last Dec though so thought I'd add on a Magic cruise. Loved the new restaurant, Tangled show and re-imagined Disney Dreams. So I guess 33 Disney cruises isn't enough! .....And never get tired of Castaway Cay.

So first off, thank you everyone on the boards for all you do and contribute. This forum and the camping at Disney are my two favorites.

Now to my discussion for today, for those of you that have cruised DCL numerous times, have you gotten bored/tired with it or do you still love them just as much? If you have gotten tired of them, at what point did that set in for you?

So far we've done two 3 night Bahama's cruises on the Dream, one September of last year and then another January of this year (which the January one was because we just couldn't stand to wait until our one we have scheduled for September of this year). Our second one was even better than the first one which is hard to say because the first one blew us away. Besides our one we have scheduled for September of this year we rebooked onboard in January for one on Black Friday this year so we could experience a christmas cruise.

At this point, it's safe to say we're addicted to DCL but just thought this would be a good discussion topic and I'm curious to hear what others have to say. Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a good week ahead!

I don't even understand the question!!??!!

Wow, I must be the odd ball. As much as I love DCL, we are taking a break after our next cruise. We love to cruise, our boys are turning 7 and they seem to love the mega ships just as much as DCL. We are sailng on DCL next Feb and The Harmony of the seas (rcc) the year after. We shall see in 2018 what happens but for now I think I will continue to explore new options. We will continue to visit the parks atleast once a year.

We have taken 7 so far and have my husbands 50th birthday celebration (8th) coming for our quick 4 night Bahama cruise ( with a stay at Yacht club after the cruise) and then number 9 will be another 7 night on the Fantasy.
I was on the Wonder when I was single and a CM...long time ago. But my husband and kids have never done the Magic or Wonder. We also live in Orlando, and PC is just so darn close, we don't want to drive to Miami or anywhere else to cruise the other ones (silly I know)
We have mainly taken the 7 night cruises with 2 (so far) being on the Dream.

I would love take a 14 night cruise, but we own a business and it is hard to leave for longer than a week without worrying about things. Probably when hubby retires/sells the business. :)

As for how many is too many? I don't think I can answer that at this point. lol

We're taking our first DCL trip in November, so I can't accurately compare. But still, I agree with you.
I posted in another thread that I'm waiting for DCL to post their 2017 summer Mediterranean schedule/price, but my son will be 7 at that time. I love Royal Caribbean and think he will as well. As far as activities/ammentities for 7 year old and older boys, I feel that RCCL may be the winner in that category- the Oasis class and definitely the Quantum class (which I'm dying to go on). I'm super excited for our Very Merrytime Criise and am positive that my son will love it! But he's also an adventurous little boy.. And things like rock climbing etc are activities that he enjoys.
I do think Disney's 2 new ships will have to include these types of ammentities to remain competitive (outside of the princess fan market). And I'm sure that they know this. We will have outgrown Disney (cruising at least) by then, but will be great for the next round of parents with ages 6-10 year old boys!

Enjoy the Harmony! I'm sure it will be a fantastic vacation for your family!!

Personally, I think more than one a week is too many.

We average two cruises a year, at least one of those will be on DCL. We'd like to add about two more per year, but since DW is still working she doesn't have the time to cruise that often, and she won't let me cruise without her.

On our last cruise we met a couple who cruise about once a month. Some years ago I met a woman who sailed all year on the Delta Queen. When it went into annual drydock, the company gave her complimentary accommodations at the Peabody in Memphis.

I think I might still be in the twilight of Disney Cruising - but, I have enjoyed each trip immensely; with family and friends and also solo once. So at this point, I would say too many DCL cruises is when your last sailing is in a casket (i wonder if thats possible?!).
If I travel stateside or international - i'm afraid there would be a need for a cellular device, thus not allow me to separate from work and the daily life I was looking to vacation from. I value my time away and being disconnected. I guess its all dependent on what people desire and want from their vacations.
