How many dinners do you cook?

Really....none. I have been prior with DVC family members and then when we joined we didn't do it either. We use the kitchen more for breakfast/snacking. The last thing I want to do is cook!! I do it everynight in the "real world" !!! :p

We usually cook for ourselves every other night. We love eating out, but if we ate out every night, we wouldn't be able to get into the airplane seats for our flights home. For us, one of the attractions of DVC is not to have to eat out all the time.

Sometimes we cheat a little. Order ribs at Big River Brewhouse on night, then eat leftovers with rice another night. Or maybe get meatball sandwiches from Spoodles 'take out' window 'hold the bread' and serve with our own freshly cooked spaghetti. I have even made turkey-leg vindaloo, with spices I bring from home.

We always have breakfast in our rooms, Maybe pastries & juice from Boardwalk Bakery, or for a special treat, collected from Norway, with our own freshly brewed coffee. Since they removed the small coffee cart on the Boardwalk, I haven't been able to buy espressos first thing in the morning, so we make our own with ground beans from Girodhellis (sp?), Publix or Goodings.

We rarely, if ever, have breakfast out. Almost always have oatmeal or frozen waffles. We often drive down..and never drive without the jar of peanut butter, (great for those "gotta eat now!" moments") so there's always P&J for quick sandwiches. We usually bring some staples.. and cook one or two nights. Sometimes bringing something like a container or two of my homemade sauce and meatballs; then one other night will make a stirfry with chicken over the pasta with the spices I premixed at home and brought in a ziplock.
Sometimes we're just "peopled out" or we come back from the parks and plan on going out again later and want to avoid the dinner crowds.. sometimes we have a big lunch at one of the park restaurants and make a meat ball sandwich and eat on the balcony while watching illuminations from the standard view at the BWV.. ahhhhhhhh!

one of the main things we like about going to wdw is eating out, I'd hate to "miss" a meal "slot" that I could have eaten out somewhere... if that makes any sense - plenty of time to cook at home-

I am a studio person and I visit pretty often. On some trips I stock up on Lean Cuisine and microwavable soup from the Publix, which helps save money for other trips when I have lots of restaurant meals planned.

I love the Campbells pizza soup to go!

Oh, I LOVE cooking together occasionally in the Villa @ VERO! It's one of the "highlights" of the trip. Just being able to have the OPTION of a full kitchen and fridge is a TREAT! Since we are on vacation for such an extended period of time, I enjoy being able to cook/relax while staying at the VERO Beach resort. We always rent a Villa, and usually stay between 1-2 weeks (10 eves this summer). We also rent an expedition during this time, and use it to travel comfortably around the area (shopping and browsing the Indian River Mall, etc). We stop in Costco in Orlando on our way from the (6 eves in a CL villa suite w/butler pantry...but no COOKING!) Portofino Bay resort to VBR, and pick up the groceries we desire.

The housekeepers @ VERO always comment on how delicious our Villa smells, as they gather there to share the delightful scents! (LOL) I usually prepare some home-made spaghetti sauce early in the am (peppers, sweet onions, sausage and ground beef, tomatoes, fresh garlic/basil/oregano...etc). I let the pot simmer slowly all day on the stove, as we enjoy the beach and other activities/locations. We then return to the aroma which has permeated the entire Villa! I prepare some angel hair, and some fresh Garlic bread. It's so relaxing and enjoyable to share a home-cooked meal while traveling on vacation. I also prepare home-made tacos, BLT's, fajitas, prime-rib roast, brownies/tollhouse cookies, and an occasional breakfast or a lunch/two while in Vero. We also dine in Sonya's and eat in restaurants in the surrounding area.

After we leave VERO for our WDW resort property (and/or Disney Cruise..other destinations), it's nothing but restaurants for the remainder of our trip (another 6+ weeks). We live in an CL suite on WDW property, w/o any kitchen. We do have a nice fridge and microwave. Sometimes I make an occasional tuna/turkey croissant sandwich...(rarely), and use the microwave for beverages and popcorn. But no more cooking. Therefore, we all look forward to the fun we share together, shopping & cooking in our little "kitchen" in the VBR Villa! It breaks up the monotony of our trip.

While on vacation, housekeeping/cleaning is more important to me. We are not DVC members, and receive housekeeping in the Villa each day. It's SO nice not to have to clean, make beds, vac, etc. The housekeepers are astounding, and do a fabulous job. We are able to easily wash/dry our soiled clothes in the convenience of our villa while at Vero. Yet, when at all the other locations, we use the resorts laundry/dry cleaning "services." The clothes are taken, cleaned and delivered to our suite fresh & clean. :) NO work (toiling!) for moi/us. A TRUE vacation from the norm!!

*We order take-out from nice restaurants 3-4 out of 7 weeknights here at home! I love to cook a nice meal once in a while, but still prefer the convenience of good take-out. I also detest grocery shopping (LOL--who doesn't?). :sunny:
