I've only eaten there once & i'm not even sure what it was called. We were in a room with only 1 "U" shaped table (sort of like a big bar), with the chef in the middle (not an interactive place, kind of quiet. What are the different Japan restaurants? Which one is like a typical Japanese Steakhouse?

There are 3 restaurants in Japan, 2 are sit down and one is counterservice. I will leave you a link to a site with menus and maybe the name will jump out at you. I hope I helped. :D

MENUS

DH and I love Japan in the WS. There are 3 restaurants. the one you ate at before is their sushi bar-style restaurant, Matsumono lounge I think it's called or something near that... There is Teppanyaki which is a place where they serve mostly steaks, and they cook it in front of you. I think this is the one you were referring to, about the Japanese steakhouse. The other is Tempura Kiku, a sit-down restaurant serving various Japanes cuisine as well as sushi. I'm not sure, but I think you can also request sushi at Teppanyaki.

I made PS's for us for lunch at Tempura Kiku the other day. Can't wait to go!

I think the place you are describing sounds like Tempura Kiku. Did you eat breaded meat/fish and veggies?
Teppanyaki is the steakhouse and the have the usual array of offerings -- steak, tenderloin, chicken, shrimp, lobster. Yes, you also can get sushi.

We had a Sushi sampler ...people were mostly eating sushi there. We walked up a tall set of steps and when you go in I think you could go to a room on the left, slightly right, or a complete right - If I remember correctly, we went into a room that was slightly right of the podium (my right) ....make sense to anyone? :confused:

I know the place you are talking about exactly, because DH and I ate there also. It's the sushi bar, called Matsunoma Lounge (I looked it up on wdwig) like I said in my previous post. This restaurant has the most selection. But Teppanyaki is also very good. DH and I would have made a PS here but we thought it might be difficult w/ a 9 month old. So for us, it's Tempura Kiku. We love sushi, and I have to say that compared to the Chicago sushi restaurants we frequent, the restaurants in WS Japan are right up there! Well, I would hope so since it's supposed to be authentically made food:p

=======================

A slight modification to this post.... I just changed our PS from Tempura Kiku to Teppanyaki, I think DD can handle it there. It just seems that they have a better selection there. But I'll be happy as long as there's sushi!

Two sit down restaurants and one counter service.

Hope this helps?
