Since you're coming to the Bay, add Disney Family Museum to your itinerary if it isn't already on there.

YES! This museum is amazing and and is an absolute must visit for any and all Disney fans going to San Fransisco.

Particularly since it has a good chunk of history about DLR in addition to other neat Disney history!

Nice compliment to a trip to DLR if one has the time to go to NorCal.

Wine drinkers? Stop by Wente Vineyards (Livermore) tasting room as you drive I-580 from I-5, nice alternative to Napa. Without knowing your interests, Oakland Zoo is a great visit. In SF Golden Gate Park is a must, De Young Museum, California Academy of Sciences is a must, Japanese Tea Garden, Botanical Gardens, Conservancy of Flowers are all located within a short drive. Pier 39 is great, short walk to Ghirardelli Square. Let me know if you are looking for specifics!

Thanks for the suggestions....a few of those things are on our list and we will check out the others! My wife is an artist and art teacher so we want to take a day at least just to walk some of the neighborhoods and see the different areas (good and bad) and try to get a feel for the city.

I'm a bay area local and honestly the last few years SF has given me less and less reasons to venture over.

Presidio is awesome still with the Walt Disney Family Museum I agree however.
The city just feels super dirty now and I grew up very poor in Florida so by no means am I being "that" person.
Pier 39 is touristy but I do love the sea lions there ! And Boudin Bakery is just neat as well.

Livermore has some great wineries as well as Sonoma County is where I spend much more of my time in Calistoga and it's beautiful this time of year and has that small town feel.
