do you recommend for a first timer?
we currently have 8days/7nights booked, we plan on doing unibersal/ioa two days.
should this be a good amount of days?

It will depend on how well prepared you are. Also when you're going. We go in June but stay 12 days, 10 in the parks and two other places. For us this gives us a relaxed time and you can just enjoy all the little details that Disney does so well. Like the hidden Mickeys, Minnies and others. We try to find some of the more unusual things or places that are generally not mentioned in Disney materials but are available on this site. It's a big place and tons to do and see so a park hopper may be a handy ticket option. We like the freedom to come and go as we please especially considering weather at times. You'll be hooked once you've been here. We have been to 30 states and now we just can't think of any place better for vacation. Enjoy!

for us the perfect vacation is 10 days.... we have been to WDW many times (over 25) and still find that it works best for us.... it gives us the ability to see each park 2 days if we like... we do one day kind of commando style and then the next time not so much... also it gives us time for golf, spa day and just hanging by the pool without feeling so rushed.... even after all those visits we still find new things to see every visit... so don't plan on fitting it all in in just one visit.... just do what you can and enjoy what you see

i'd say 5-7 days.
it takes a good while to get everything covered.
i think you'd be fine with the 8nights/7days.

Are you going to have the Park Hopping option?
If so I think you should be fine.
