Thinking about Universal for our Nov trip. The week b4 Thanksgiving to avoid the crowds. Were staying at Bonnet Creek. How may days would you spend as a family of first timers? Does Universal do much for Christmas and if so will it be done by then?

Plan on spending at least two full days to see and do everything. Transformers will be open by then and the Christmas decorations will be up. Universal doesn't start their holiday festivities until the first weekend of December so you'll miss the Macy's parade and Grinchmas but the parks are beautifully decorated.

New Simpsons places should be (in theory) open by then too, and Harry Potter expansion should be announced and have lots of new things there to see.

Look at the what is available and decide if you are going to do everything or skip some stuff.

We plan to do everything, spend some extra time in WWOHP and go back a redo some things. I'm planning for 3 days.

i think that for a first time visitor, 3 full days would work.
you will be able to see more than the highlights of the parks.

I agree, we did both parks in one day a few years back. We arrived when the gates opened and stayed till closing. Very long day and we had to skip a few attractions too.

Thanks everyone. Im just so un decicded. My reason for booking around Thanksgiving was to see the Christmas decor at MK and HS. Weve been to Disney alot but we havent been in the last 3 years and they havent added anything we are interested in. Universal looks like the perfect fit for my kids age and things they would enjoy but I cant afford to do both.

So 3 days max to do USF? That would leave me a day tour Disney resorts, day to enjoy Bonnet Creek, Day for Downtown Disney. Guess the extra day will be bad weather just stay in and relax.

My heart is telling me just go to Disney and my brain is calling me all kind of bad words.
I never should have drank the cool aid !!!

Could you fit in the resorts and Downtown Disney into one day? I personally couldn't spend a whole day just at Downtown Disney, but maybe that's just me. I know you said you wouldn't be able to do both, but if it came down to it you could do one Disney park if you really wanted to that way.

Or you could check out something cheaper to do around Orlando. Will you have a rental car? There's of course a ton of fun things to do around here; and some things don't have to be expensive at all.

We are driving so i will have my car. My original plan was to do Disney 5 day MYW for 1060.00. So adding another 500.00 fo USF goes over my budget. But now you do have me thinking maybe I should do USF 2 days and Disney 2 days and thats only 200.00 more. And extra day to relax Everyone will be extreamly Happy !

Your right theres no way I could spend an entire day at DTD either but could easliy spend 4 or 5 hours including dinner at Rain Forest.

That sounds like a good plan to me! Mid-November will be a slow time for the parks, so if you plan to stay from open to close you'll be able to see a lot if not everything at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Yeah DTD/Marketplace is a great place to spend a few hours, especially in the evening. I do that fairly often. And now the new Splitsville bowling alley is open; I've heard it's really neat.

Maybe consider Sea World as an option to Disney....They have the BEST Christmas in my opinion.

I always take a week and personally would recommend a week, just so you can take your time and enjoy everything and not be so rush rush. But 2 days you could technically do most everything, not counting restaurants you would need at least a week or more to hit every restaurant. But a week I do not think you would get bored. I personally could move in and live there but that's just me.

We went in mid-Oct a few years ago and we were done after 2 1/2 days. We had early park admission so we got there early and would stay until about 3. We then headed back to the room to rest and grab some dinner. We would head back into the parks around 6:30/7:00. Even riding the water rides (which you may not be able to do in November), we had seen everything in 2 1/2 days and spent lots of time in Harry Potter world.

I agree...you couldn't pay me to spend all day at DTD...I don't know if I could spend more than two hours there.
