How many days do you guys recommend first timers going?
We would go the week of April 10th most likely which we know will probably be busier than usual since a lot of schools will probably be off. We probably wouldn't be returning for a while so we would want to do it right.

What do most people do from LAX to the hotel? Cab?

Where are you coming from?

Are you stuck with LAX, or could you pick a closer Hotel like Long Beach (LGB) or John Wayne (Orange County/Santa Ana/SNA). A taxi is usually not a good choice, a lot of issues here including the possible need for car seats. Check out the link below for Airport and Transportation choices and more info.

What other things are you interested to see/do in Southern California? Plenty of options using public transit and tour companies.

One great area is Buena Park, with Knott's Berry Farm and Camp Snoopy, two family Dinner Theaters and more.

Easy public transit from Disneyland.

So lets say you plan a week in the area, I could do 4 days at the Disneyland Resort (ParkHoppers), and a day at Buena Park, and then a day checkout out other nearby areas.

We're coming from NYC! We won't need car seats. We probably would catch an Angels game but I don't know what else we would do/ if we would do anything else (I know.. I know lol)

If arriving at LAX, your best option is probably a shared shuttle....ie: PrimeTime Shuttle, supershuttle or other.....check websites for prices, but last time I checked PrimeTime it was pretty reasonable...(taxi would be over $100). We fly into LGB or SNA.....much closer!
As far as days in the park....at least 4 (with park hoppers) but 5 is best! It makes for a much more relaxing trip and you will be able to enjoy all the little details!

4-5 days at DL.

LAX to Disneyland transportation: Super Shuttle, taxi, not sure if Uber is allowed to pick up at LAX yet. Some people on the boards have used Lansky and report good reviews of it. ~$100 from LAX to Disneyland, but they will stop at a grocery store, Walmart, or Target on the way to your hotel if you want to pick up some groceries. That can be really useful!

OK, which airline from New York, use a Google search for the multiple airport options in New York (JFK and LGA) and the Southland (LGB, SNA and LAX)..I like JetBlue, they have a non-stop from JFK to Long Beach. and LGB is the easiest and closest airport to Disneyland. A flat rate taxi from LGB to the Disneyland area is just $45 plus tip.

Whatever airline is cheapest :rotfl: Its cheaper to fly to long beach than LAX for our dates, thank you! We're flexible with airports since its basically the same distance.

I did Uber, they are allowed to pickup at specific pickup area outside LAX departure hall. I was at Tom Bradley and there a nearby area between it and the next terminal. Bad thing was arrival is at lower floor and mobile signal is weak.
I took UberXL as we had big luggages for a family of 4. Went to Hampton Inn and cost us US$86 (Tips not included). it was a long ride of one & half hour as I arrived in the afternoon and took the Uber at 2.30pm. Hotel check begins at 4pm any way. By 5pm we were at DTD. :)

Depending on your hotel.
For us at Hampton, Target was around 10 mins walk away.
