I'm trying to pull together a last-minute trip to California (we'll be there in 17 days!).

There's a special offer at the Universal website that ends TODAY!!! For slightly more than the cost of a regular day admission, you get admission for the rest of 2005.

Alternatively, we could spend roughly double the regular admission and get Front-of-the-line passes.

I've never been to Universal so I need your advice - should we allow two days for Universal or spend the extra $$$ for Front-of-the-Line and do it all in one day. Are the FOPs good for EVERYTHING or just some stuff (just like the DLFastpass isn't available on all rides)?

We're staying at DL, so the "commute" to Universal needs to be taken into account. Also, my kids are aged 10 and 8 and I'm thinking that FOP may be the way to go to avoid whiny kids resulting from long line ups in the August heat!!

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I personally think USH can be done in one day. Considering how long the lines get on weekends, I would pay for the front of the line pass.

I would plan one day and get the FOTL passes. US hollywood is a different beast the US Orlando.... Try and hit all the attactions on top of the hill before heading down...(or Vs Versa) the esclators take 5-10 just to get up or down the hill. Lovely view thou... lol

Agreed-one day is lots. We shuttled there, got there around 10, left at 6. That was enough. It was fun, but my kids at ages 6&9, they were a little too young for alot of the things.
Have fun!

US Hollywood is not worth even the cost of the one day admission, let alone the cost of FOLpasses! The only decent thing there is the studio tour and even parts of that are really bad! If you are on a limited amount of time in the LA area, there are many other better things to do with a day than USH!!!

We did enjoy it, but wondered if we shouldn't have done Sea World or Knotts instead.....

Out of those three choices, what would be your pick and why?

I would choose Sea World if you want to go all the way to San Diego. I love it there! Knotts is great for fast rides so if you are looking for roller coasters it is fun. I like Universal a lot but it is only a one day thing. For little ones, try LegoLand. I just realized, that I haven't helped a bit have I? Oh, well, have a great trip!

We enjoyed Universal Hollywood. The Mummy, Jurassic Park, Shrek, Waterworld and Backstage tour are not to be missed. We purchased the Front of the Line Passes. I enjoyed it much more than Knotts.

damo-how old are your kids, to enjoy US so much?

Also-love your siggie! Are you Canadian? Kalan goes to my cousins church in Medicine Hat-they say he is a great kid! We saw him last year at the Canada Day celebration in Medicine Hat. :cool1:

My kids are 16 and 19. We go to Universal Studios Florida about twice a year. Yes, we are Canadian, from Oakville Ontario. I saw Kalan in concert at his last performance of his tour. Canadian Idol will never be as good as last year! Those contestants were great and Kalan will be a star one day.

Yes, he is doing really well so far. Apparently he is doing great in the charts, on muchmusic etc...
Good for him!
