How Many Days to Justify Buying an AP?

I realize many APs are not available right now. DH and I have Pixie Dust APs as FL residents. I’ve used mine 9 days so I feel I’ve gotten my money’s worth. DH has used his 4 days so I’m not sure whether he’s there yet. How much do/did you use your APs? Do you go to the parks all day? Just drop in? Just go eat?

Love the drop ins....love the just go eat....they were two of our favorite things to do since our kids are now grown....Going to the parks all day is a no go for us....we like to wander, see the shops, people watch and maybe hop on a few rides that are no longer than 20 mins (peoplemover is a fav)....we are missing our AP's tho and until they return this kind of touring will be a no go for us....

Depends on which AP you get and how much you pay. We are DVC, so we renewed our old APs at a lower price (around $760?), so for us break even would be around 10 days.

Back before COVID we were snowbirds with FL APs. DW and I would do drop in's, once, maybe twice, a week. Add to that a visit to see friends or family when they are visiting the park. That was enough for us to justify the AP.

During our "drop in" visits we would catch a couple of rides, sometimes using FP+ if the visit was a bit "planned". We would usually rotate through Epcot, AK, and MK. We have a few favorite rides/shows at each of those parks. But mostly the visit is a stroll around the park. We would be there a couple of hours and then head back home.

Depending on the park we might get an early lunch at Flametree BBQ at AK or Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. Or maybe just a Mickey Bar for me.

Overall what I would call a daily walk enhanced by Disney.

Last renewal rates for DVC according to my AX card was $813.
Todaythe DVC Renewal is called IncrediPass and will cost $1104…

The pixie one is the one with no weekends and other blocks for about $400? That would be easy to get money's worth, If your weekdays were open of course. I am hoping to go to disney for two weeks early Dec. I'd jump to buy that pass vs what is open to DVC.

Being a thousand miles away, we would tend to get about 12- 16 days out of one AP.

Before the last price increase, I did the math, and for my family at that time it took 10+ days and at least two different trips. (10 days total split between two trips).

I feel like dropping in for just a concert or a meal at Epcot would be one of the biggest advantages of an AP. I understand the reasoning behind limiting the cheaper (and currently only available) passes to just Florida residents, but we pseudo-snowbirded in Florida this year (spent about 7.5 weeks there this fall/winter) and found we really enjoyed using our Seaworld APs to drop in for their various festivals and concerts. For the top-tier Disney AP, we felt it wouldn't be worth it unless we used it 16 days. I think if the Pixie Pass was available, it would be more like 6 days, unless all the days were in a week or two's time, when a 6 day pass woul d be cheaper.

Thats what we have figured in the past. With 2 trips a year, the AP was an easy choice.

Agreed with the prior posters, anything past 10 days makes the AP more attractive (but we are DVC). Do factor in that once you have the AP you may find your self booking more trips to "take advantage" of it and it costs you more money in the long run.

I generally do two 10 day trips a year, so I have been getting an AP for about the last 15 years or so. I did renew recently but downgraded my Platinum to a Sorcerers Pass. I usually don't go during the holidays, so no great loss there. I had gone the last two Christmas weeks, but only because I had excess points to use up.

It depends on how you travel. Since a 10 day ticket costs less per day than a single day ticket, well multi day in general do.

If you are the weekend trip type people a couple times a year you will break even faster than someone booking 1 long trip and doing a 6-7 day park ticket.
