there is going to be 6 of us going. me, my sister (aunt lissa), my friend, and 3 kids ( ages 5, 8, and 9 at the time of travel). we are going the first week of october. can we do it in one day or do we need 2? thanks!

It is all doable in one day, no problem. You won't see ALL the shows, but you'll hit the main rides, exhibits, and shows within one day easy.

we did it last year in 1 day but missed 1 show but this year we are planning 2 days so we can enjoy it at a more relaxing pace
:jester:

thank you. i am an easy going tourist. i like to take my time, this IS my vacation after all! i think we will try one day and if we need another then we will see about tacking on a another day at the end of the trip. thanks for the help!

hi a newbie question for you, if Seaworld is doable in one day (and one or two days doable for US & IOA) (ditto for Busch Gdns) is the 5 park flex ticket worthwhile?

The flex ticket is pretty good value getting access to 5 parks or 4 depending on ticket so even if u only use it say 6 times in total u probably still save money but it allows u to go when u want over a 2 week period which we found pretty convenient:jester:

Thanks highlander447 (also from Livingston - small world after all!)

We thought that as we are going for the 3 weeks and we got the 14 day option, if we had had enough for the day we could always come back - but as we haven't been before it is difficult to guage.

we are also getting the 5 day hopper +

I am so looking forward to Seaworld ( and everywhere else)

thanks

Carol

If u are going for 3 weeks the flex ticket will be better for u we went for 2 weeks last year and also had the 10 day disney pass and it was way too much to cram in thats y this year we are only doing Universal,SW,DC and BG with a day trip planned for KSC with exchange rate just now u might be beter getting the dollars now and buying passes over there:jester:

We picked up $970 for £550 today :) and we were looking at the Maple Leaf site to get the tickets, with both set of tickets and Kennedy & Medievil times tickets it is £ 1700 ($3870).

The rate had dropped down the last day or two so but we were toying with the idea of buying them across there. Rumour is that the pound will get stronger again by the end of next week, so I am checking it daily at the mo.:D as we still have to get TC's

Maple leaf get good reviews and seem to be well priced:jester:

While it is possible to cover most of SeaWorld in one day, the show times make it almost impossible to take in all the shows. It does also mean you have to go at a pretty fair pace and not allow the kids time to enjoy exibits like the tide pool, feeding the stingrays, seal, dolphins or the excellent kiddies climbing/play areas. It depends on if you like to "commando" a park or if you like to take your time to "smell the roses". A lot of the exibits , like penguins, seals and dolphins you can easily spend 30-40 minutes at enjoying their antics. I've seen people at those exibits drag their kids up the stairs and say "look there are the seals, ok we've seen them , let's go" . I'm not saying they're wrong to view the park in that way, if it suits them that's fine, but I do feel they are not making the most of the park and they are also missing a chance to educate their kids at a time when any little bits of information they pass on is likely to stick because the kids can see the animals and they are more interested than sitting at home or in a classroom.

I would take 2 days for cover it all and take a reasonably gentle pace, particularly as if you're planning to buy a single entry ticket they usually are on a 2nd day free program. Don't miss the Pets Ahoy show, for adults it may be a little too sweeeeet, but kids of that age seem to love the show.

We visited SW for the first time the first week of Oct., and went one day only. We missed a lot of the exhibitions and shows because we just ran out of time. We did take an hour lunch break and half hour for kids to play at the huge play area (they could have spent MUCH longer there). We really wanted to go back a second day, but couldn't fit it into our schedule. I think you should definitely leave a second day as an option.
I agree with Vernon:

We all enjoyed it, especially the kids.

What is the Pets Ahoy show? We will be there in March w/dd, a 6 year old - would it be great for her? We just watched the Sea World special on the travel channel and hadn't planned on visiting, but now it's a must-see!

Jennz, the pets ahoy is a show that features a lot of animals, rescued from the animal shelter, doing different tricks. There are many dogs and cats (obviously) but there are also pigs, ducks, rats a few more that I can't remember. If she likes animals, at 6 yrs I would say it's likely to be perfect for her.

Thanks so much - I'm really excited to take her to that! She's one of those sweet kind quiet kids that stops for animals wherever she ones.

A question just came to mind...do they discuss how/when the animals were mistreated?

So we'll definitely plan on that, Clyde and Seamore sounds funny - we saw that on the TC special, definitely Shamu and Pets Ahoy - any other shows we shouldn't miss?

I'm glad someone asked this question. I wanted to see seaworld this summer, and now I know how to plan.

The Pets Ahoy show usually doesn't bring it up. The trainers come out at the end, so perhaps you can ask. They did explain with one dog. He did like 14 tricks on stage. The owners surrendered him because they said that he didn't listen! :)

Don't miss the end Shamu show, Shamu Rocks America.

Also, if you have any male friends or family in your group, don't let them volunteer for any show. Well, if you want to get revenge on them, volunteer them! :)

When we went last year we took two half days at Sea World. We went in the morning the first day and stayed untill the kids were tired and came back the next afternoon to do what we missed and catch the night shows. It worked out really well for us. It was a simple pace and we were able to grab dinner (or lunch) at an offsite restaurant and spend some time by the pool. If the 2nd day free is still available this year, we plan on doing the same thing. It just makes it less exhausting and overwhelming. It really is a one day park, though.
