We leave in February.

Our tentative schedule was going to be :

Arrive - DL DCA
Day 2 - Universal Studios
Day 3 - DL DCA/MM
Day 4 - Knotts/DL DCA

However, it seems like there is a lot out there since we went last (3 years ago). I am tempted to drop Knotts and do a full 2 1/2 days in DL.

We have been to Knotts in the past, and while it was okay, it was pretty run down and it seemed like we were ready to leave after only a half day.

Definitely keeping Universal Studios though -gonna get the S. Cal City Pass - gotta go on the new Transformers Ride!!

Should we skip Knotts? DS will be a bit disappointed, as he wanted to do Knotts, but I don't want to short ourselves on Disneyland either.

We have a bit of time to go, but I am trying to budget out everything.

Even if you dropped Knotts, you still barely have enough time to see the highlights at DLR. If you really wanted to see Knotts, maybe you could add an extra day in. Personally, I'd pick DLR over Knotts, but that's just me. There is so much to do in DLR, I wouldn't want to take time away from that.

Depending on your speed (ex. do you need to take breaks in the afternoon?) and the park hours (are you only going to DL on weekdays, when the hours will be shorter?), you could make the schedule work. Honestly, DCA can be done in a day (so long as you use your fast passes and go on the Little Mermaid ride first thing [it loads quickly and is over quickly, so you'll be on and off in under 15 mins]) and DL is usually open before DCA opens and after DCA closes, so you get a couple of more hours in DL even if you blocked out a whole day for DCA. But, like I said, it depends on how long the parks are open and your speed. Otherwise, you can pass on Knott's. It does pale in comparison to DLR.

In the past, it looks like park hours in Feb at our time are around 10am-8pm. So it won't be open too late. We are going from Mon (arrival day) until Thurs, and will leave Friday morning.

I am leaning more towards skipping Knotts, and risking DS being disappointed (but how disappointed could he be - instead of Idaho he will be in Disneyland!!).
