How many days do Florida school kids have off in October?

This year, our school district and most others I know have off for a week in October. Ours is the first week of October.

Orange County has Oct 12th and 13th off.

If Ernesto causes schools to close for a day- then one of those will be taken away as a "Hurricane Day"

Some may depend on how many hurricanes hit. If any bad ones come by, then there will probably be schools that will have an extended break while they repair everything.

We always joke about all the non-holiday days off in that month. We always have at least three days off in October.

We were going to be off the 2nd, 20th and 27th, but are missing today and tomorrow for TS Ernesto and possibly more days in Sept for future storms, so I'm not counting on having the last ones.

One of the first things I noticed about the school systems in Florida, after I moved down here upon retirement (after teaching in Kentucky for 30 years), is that all school systems in Florida are county wide, rather than being city based, or independent.

This means that each Florida county school system sets up its own school year schedule, so the OP's question cannot be answered unless one gathers information from each county system in the state.

I actually think TGM does this. He seems to know when the schools will be out
