We are seriously looking into buying into DVC ( Boradwalk or OKW) in the near future. I just wanted to know what other Canadians have done (Resale or DVC) and what resorts they bought into and why?
I also wanted to know of there were any other conditions/taxes that a canadian might incur for becoming a DVC member?

Hi dear.

We live in Albanel a small town in the north of the province of Quebec.
We bought in 2001, 230 pts at OKW via a resale. We plan to go to WDW every year until our son (now 15 yrs old) decide to stop following us. After, we will travel all around the world.
Usually we go to WDW at the school break, this year we will go in the christmas vacations.
I find the DVC very flexible compared to other timeshares and the quality of the hotel is superior.
If you want other infos that can be shared with others, just ask

There are a number of us here who own at DVC (as I'm sure you'll discover once they start posting replies ;) ). We purchased 2 resale contracts at OKW from Jaki Apetz at A Timeshare Broker and the transactions were both flawless. We like the laid-back atmosphere at OKW which is why we bought there. (The beauty of DVC is that you can stay at the other resorts if you choose - depending on availability, of course.)

There are no tax implications for Canadians (that I'm aware of, anyway) on purchasing, but there may be when you sell. Our very own moderator PoohBWV may be able to answer that question, as they sold their contract at BWV a couple of years ago.

As Alexx says, if you want any additional information, just ask.

Hi DVC members here in London along with Mike and a few others. We own at Hilton Head I sland and Saratoga Springs. We own 200 points in total and love the freedom of being able to choose any resort on property we also purchased directly from Disney not re sale. Any questions feel free to ask away I am sure they will all get answered.

We bought at OKW back in 93 and as an incentive they gave us free passes to the parks until the year 1999!!! We went about twice a year and had no problems. I still think it is the best investment my DH made. We have used our points for a cruise,DLP, and are looking into Hawaii for this summer.

DW and I just joined DVC today with the purchase of 150 SSR October points. Here's a great reason to join -- you can say goodbye to that nasty subscript in every Florida travel brochure -- "11.5% tax to be added and prepaid."
