How Many Books Do YOU Read a Year?

I am a book junkie! :teeth:

I usually read about 3-4 books/week. I love reading! I am so thrilled because my DD10 is really into reading as well... it just makes me so happy to see her pick up a book and read it....

My only problem with reading is that once I start a book - I hate to put it down, then I finish it and I am sad I am done :p

Oh well..could be worse things! :)

Wow way too many to count. I read about 3 books at a time and they usually take me about 1 to 2 weeks. So do the math because I'm going back to reading my books :)

Probably only a couple a year (maybe 5 or 6) these days -- just can't find much free time in between work and everything going on at home.

From January until June I read about 25, we were doing Read to Feed at our School, I wanted my sheet to be full!

This summer I've read about 4 so far, taking another 3 on vacation next week.

Oh, I've got a book going all the time - couldn't count how many in a year! DD, 10, also loves to read and this summer she's going through 5-10 a week. DD, 8, HATES to read, so it's kinda sad. She loves being read to, though, so we do alot of that...I just make her read a page here and there. DH reads alot as well, so maybe we'll eventually rub off on younger DD!!

I have gotten back into reading lately (thanks to the "what are you reading" threads) and I am reading 1-2 books/week.

My DD and I got to Borders quite often and look at books. She just loves them so I am doing everything I can to encourage her. :)

DH hardly ever reads although I did get him to read Harry Potter. He started re-reading them 2 weeks ago when he saw me doing it. He does like Stephan King so I try to get those for him. :)

I always have at least one book in process. Usually it is 2 or 3. Since I work in a library it is very easy to grab whatever looks interesting. Unfortunately I do not have time to read them all!

I read all the time, have loved reading all my life, but never read fiction. Just have never been able to get in to it. I think I have read 2 fiction books in my life, both in HS, and we were to have read 20 in those four years. I love history, science, business, travel.

I use to LOVE to read. Then I had my kids. Now my eyes are getting bad when I read (thing called getting older - LOL) I am too lazy to get my reading glasses.

The folks at the library and I have a good thing going. I recommend books I really enjoyed and they let me know when they've read something they think I'd find interesting. One woman told me she always makes sure to check what I have on reserve so she can get it later! I also love the "librarian picks" table at the library. Sometimes there are older books there that I've missed along the way.

I probably read well over 100 novels per year. Reading is my favorite past time.

After kids more like one book per month.

That's about where I am. Before the kids I read about 1-2 books week. Now with the 3 girls, it is about 1-2 books a month.
Even though, I still keep up with my favorite authors and usually have their newest works pre-ordered as soon as they are announced.

I also keep a few collections of short stories in the bedroom and family room for those times I have a few quick moments to myself.

I usually have 2-3 books going at a time, too. I try to keep a Chicken Soup type book in the car; one that I can read for 5-10 minutes without having to try to remember the plot.

I remember when my oldest were preschool and toddler and I was getting my master's. Not a whole lot of extra time to read for fun.

Reading is really a stress-reliever for me. If I get to the point where I can't read for at least 15 minutes before going to bed, I know I'm over-committed.

I am so thankful that the oldest two are just as hooked on reading as I am. One more to learn how to read and then learn how to read for fun and I've accomplished one of my goals for my kids!

That's a goal I agree with wholeheartedly!

I'm pleased to see the amount of readers here.:D

Between 200 and 300. Books are my passion.

As an English teacher, I read alot. During the school year, if I become crabby and short tempered, I know I haven't had my read fix yet. I spend too much time on their papers. But, during summer, I average 5 or so a week, depending on the substance. I like many of you, find an author and read everything available.

One thing I do that I love to refer back to is: I keep a book journal. I put the date, title and author read. Then if I liked anything in particular, favorite quotes... I write that down too. Helps me remember and keep track of the books I read. Just this past year, I had my students write a recipe for a good year and I put down a goal of 75 books to be read. One student went home and thought about it and has set a goal for 50. I think he was at about 25 by the end of the school year. Made me smile :)

What an EXCELLENT idea. I can't tell you how many times I've picked up a book and thought, "Hey, this looks interesting." Then when I start reading it, I realize I've already read it. This happens a lot if they've changed the cover. I know, Duh.

I agree with other posters -- before kids I read all the time, at least a book a week. Now with three kids under 7, it's one, maybe two a month. I read as much as I can though. DH won't read a book unless it has something to do with his job or how to make and/or save more money. He doesn't understand reading for pleasure. But then, his parents don't either, so it doesn't surprise me. So, I'm trying to set the example for the kids, who all love to read so far. Well, DD9 months mostly likes to eat her books, but I'm taking that as a positive sign! :p

I'm afraid I'm in the 24(?)% that doesn't read books. I read the Sunday newspaper and the DISboards and an occasional magazine but have no interest in picking up a book.
