I am curious. I am always looking for the right combo. Fannypack/cooler. Fannypack/backpack/cooler etc... Am I the only one who takes multiple bags to the parks?
I have a 6year old DD if that explains this craziness at all. :flower:

I take a backpack or shoulder bag with most of our basics - camera, printout of penny-smashing locations and such, cell phone, wallet, sunscreen, moleskin, etc......

DD (now 7) takes a really small backpack with our water bottles (Brita - refilled through the day with free cups of ice water from CS places) and a small snack or two for her and her pin lanyard for trading.

That's worked for us the past couple of years. Neither of us is inclined to carry much more since it'd be heavy by the end of the day - I have knee issues already, so hiking back to a locker isn't an option for us. If we need a jacket, it gets tied around our waists if it gets hot.

HTH! :flower:

I take a backpack that DH and I take turns carrying. We have a 5yo DD so most of the stuff belongs to her. We do the Brita bottles as well. I also have a change of clothes for DD in a ziploc bag, a few snacks and small toys, her autograph book/pen, change for pressed pennies, our camera, wet wipes, mini 1st aid kit, sunscreen and tickets/money. We usually go back to our room in the afternoon so I can take some things out and replace them with jackets/sweatshirts if we're going back for evening stuff.

Am I the only one with multiple bags? I usually have a fanny pack, backpack for the stroller and a cooler.

Fanny pack only. If it doesn't fit inside the fanny pack or latched on the outside then it doesn't come with me.

Now, this works for us since my kids are 4 and 7. I don't carry around juice and snacks because a big part of our WDW vacation is the eating around the World. We always stay on-site so we can easily go back to the hotel if we're tired.

This past Oct I took a carry-bag and wore a fanny pack
I recently bought a 6pack cooler and Im thinking of putting that in the carry-bag - depends if we're planning on bringing back a doggy bag that day

How crazy will I look if I attach a small hip camera bag to my fanny pack as well. Then I could avoid bringing a backback. I feel like I would look like a miner or workman with a workbelt on. :rotfl:

Thats what I am worried about with a fanny pack. Then I would have to attach my water clip AND my pal mickey AND my camera bag onto it. Then I have this huge thing around my waist weighing me down. I might as well use one bag that will carry it all, even if it is on my back.

We found it varied different days, primarily depending on how long we expected to be in the parks. We use DS's wheelchair to carry the load. On a long day, we would have our soft cooler, a large tote bag with non-perishable foods and for jackets and ponchos, my purse, a camera bag, and DD19's purse. If we weren't staying long enough to carry in our own lunch, the big tote bag would at least be emptier, but might still be along with jackets. Sometimes it was replaced by a plastic grocery bag with the ponchos. Sometimes I took a backpack instead of the tote.

I also have a pin trading fanny pack, but find it easier just to keep them in my purse in a bag and maybe put a couple in my pants pocket. We only trade with CMs.

I have always only taken 1 bag in to the parks---a backpack---when dd was little it was her diaper bag but now that she's 7 we still carry it...it was have our lunches in it, waters, ponchos...camera...everything we could need for the day...been doing this for years & it's always worked for us---if we don't want to carry it it gets hung on the stroller..but dh often carries it.

I have only ever carried my purse. Our camera is small enough that it fit inside my bag. Not that we have our DS, I plan on bringing just a large diaper bag and using the stroller basket for anything that doesnt fit in the diaper bag.

Each child has a fanny pack, or small back pack. My 12yo DS has a fanny pack from scout camp that has two water bottles attached, my 8yo DS has a small fanny pack and my 6yo DD has a small lunch bag/back pack with a water bottle attachment. These are for their cameras, little spending money, small snacks, or whatever they can put in there. They are small enough that if they needed it carried we have been able too. I carry a small cooler (with strap) and a large bag with non-perishable snacks, ponchos, small first aid kit, etc. Also, I tend to have a fanny pack or a small purse for my money/camera. We ALWAYS rent a stroller, so there is somewhere to stash the bags/cooler when we ride rides, and a resting spot for a tired child.
We have done this everytime we've gone. We went in '00 with my parents, and they carried nothing in, and were going to eat in the park. Needless to say, in '01 they had a small backpack cooler, and another backpack with all their "items" for the day. I guess they found out how easy it was to carry and stash on a stroller, and then have access to items they didn't think they would need. (Plus I think they saved a ton on food, :p ) .

oops...forgot to put in my post that we plan on bringing a small cooler (like a six pack size) to bring in water, juice boxes and maybe some non-perishable snacks in addition to my messenger bag. I expect we'll have stroller so we can just hang it on the back of the stroller each day instead of carrying it. Hopefully that will do it. We plan on taking breaks in the afternoon back at the resort so I don't think we need to bring in too much food and drink.

How many bring in coolers? we have a stroller for Dd but it will tip if there is too much and a small basket so I am trying to eliminate things. MIL is coming this time so I know I will hear about having so many bags (fanny, cooler,backpack/tote

no way my children call me miss many bags when we go to wdw.I like to bring fannypacks for all my children to wear,I wear the back pack and my husband carries a mini portable cooler.  :hourglass :mickeybar ::MickeyMo princess: ::MinnieMo

We will probably carry 2 bags plus 3 fanny packs. Maybe just one bag. And who knows if we actually manage to follow the park schedule I planned, maybe just the fanny's.
The 2 bags- One for a change of shoes and ponchos for everyone, I cant stand wet shoes on me so EVERYONE must have a second pair....need a whole bag for that. Then One for snacks sunscreen water autograph books video camera). Hubbies fanny for valuables (cash, cards, room key, keys, camera) and the kids I will make them each wear one for their pennies and quarters for penny presses, autograph pen, trading pins. I pack way too much. Maybe I'll get a new video camera bag and be able to fit all that stuff in it or between it and the shoe bag. Cant live without extra shoes. Really I'll be carrying flip flops or something small like that to change shoes before water rides. Hopefully we wont run into a problem with rain wet shoes. Everytime i walk in wet shoes even sandles I get a blister.

The main reason we carry a tote bag & cooler is too save on money. We also save time when waiting in lines to purchase food from concessions. Our family likes our "packed" lunches as opposed to take out everyday. We try to save the money that we would spend on breakfast/lunch out for souveniors or a big fancy dinner one night. But I think it is each and everyone's own opinion as to what to bring. I know when my kiddies are much bigger, they won't be slow, and we'll have to not bring anything as to not weigh us down as we are trying to catch up to them :teeth: .

My mom & dad didn't carry stuff before, and they rolled their eyes that first time. My poor ol' daddy was envious for our "snacks" (sure glad I packed extra that year). But everytime since then, they have brought items.

We found the solution to this with DS's wheelchair was just to sling the tote bag around on the handle into the seat when he got out. That usually solved the problem.

We always had this problem early in the morning when the cooler was full of drinks. As the day went by, the load got lighter and it was less of a problem. We also lengthened the strap on the cooler to make it hang lower and that helped as well.

In the past, it was one fannypack until DS was born, then one fannypack and one large diaper bag with many things also rolling around in the stroller's storage basket. Now, with two kids we'll probably have two fannypacks, the diaper bag and whatever is rolling around in the stroller's storage basket.

We've gone from many many bags to one diaper backpack (with everything - clothes, diapers, snacks, fan, first aid, juice box ...) for under the stroller, one mini cooler bag (baby bottles & yogurt) and one fanny camcorder pack for camcorder / camera / tickets / wallet / keys. Hmmm, that's still many bags huh? Oh well.
